Huge country/small population ratio has been an ongoing problem for them as personal car ownership has become more and more affordable. The sensible thing to do would be for govt to subsidize or partly nationalise them now so they continue to operate, rather than waiting for complete closure and dispersement of assets and then having to start from scratch.
Expensive, but getting cheaper. The govt has changed our mandatory third party liability cover to no fault basis, premiums went down 20% this year. Also tagged premium calcs to specific drivers, so if you have a patchy driving record you're gonna pay bigtime. They even gave out rebate cheques to reflect the much lower mileage and accident rates during 2020. People moan about govt insurance, but imagine private insurers giving rebates? Mahahaha!
