Got some good slack country lines in today. Fresh tracks on every run. Snowing again in Echoland and meant to get more tonight so should be another good day tomorrow. The southern resorts in the valley faired better with this new snow.

I saw one westerner teaching his partner. I hope it wasn't your friend. Whoever it was should have paid what ever it takes to put her in a private lesson or a day spa. Today was for selfish powder hounds.

What a rollercoaster. Wednesday: 25cm of the wettest worst snow of the season. Very poor skiing. Thursday in the Cortina area: 30-40cm of the best powder tree skiing in weeks, a huge reversal in conditions with very good powder, cold all day and some side-country areas totally ignored and left untracked (mainly because very few people know of them). Everyone had been watching Thursday approach for a week and it did not disappoint. There were plenty of friends on that powder day and all the better for it. Friday: warm and windless and blue. Saturday: rain.

Surprisingly good on the hill this morning. Went up to the top of Happo and the wind chill was the coldest I have felt all year. Trying to take some video with my glove off was brutally cold. The wind last night blew in some nice fresh stuff and I was able to get fresh tracks from the top to the bottom of skyline. A couple of crevices off piste to keep you on your toes. The slabs of ice around the place were also good for your reflexes. There had been a big avi on the north face upper bowl which looks like it could have carried all the way to the river.
    Overall a really good morning.

    Thats the one.
I dislike them immensely as they have a tendancy to show up when least expected. I've been lucky enough to be able to get over them all so far except for a secondry one that Fatboy directed me to at Nozawa. Maybe he had an agenda. [IMG]

A good morning to be low in the trees with fresh snow ontop of a soft base. Up high had about 20cm covering the ice. Groomers were pretty sweet.

Brilliant groomers with the dusting from last night and cold up high kept the snow dry. Some nice gully powder runs on spots that hadn't been touched over the last few days.

Another great day today in the Hakuba back country. Mixed bag of snow conditions but all up a very enjoyable time. I treat every powder day now as maybe the last for the season.

That's it. All packed up now. Yesterday was the last day for the resorts here in Hakuba.
16/12 - 9/5 not a bad season. There is still plenty of snow up top for those that want to walk but my battered body needs a break so the plank will be waxed and stored for 200 days until it all starts again.
For summer time the Hakuba Cricket Club (HCC) has been established and will give us countless days of entertainment throughout the off season with Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh coming out for some coaching tips in August.

The place was packed. I only did a few runs as I am not a friend of lift lines anymore. Good vibe and tshirt wearther. Golden week was the busiest I have seen it here in Hakuba The mountains were really busy but that is due to having less runs open.

DK & RM - Yep apparently so. Will keep you updated.
