Hi, I've been looking at flights through sky scanner and some of the really cheap flights go through Expedia. Have only ever used them for accommodation. Has anyone bought them this way? Pros and cons? Thanks.
Expedia sells thousands of air tickets everyday and is one of the best 3rd party sellers out there. The normal provisos apply: if there are flight changes or cancellations, for example, it’s usually easier being able to deal with the airline directly rather than an OTA. Make sure you check for flights in Google Flights if you haven’t already.
I have booked flights through Expedia and a lot of accommodation (just earned silver for the third year in a row, nice kick backs for VIP hotels) Have only had positive experiencea with ringing customer service.
I've used the Australian, USA and Irish Expedia sites to book flights and never had a problem. I've always found they send through the airline booking reference number very quickly so you can easily go to the airline's own website to confirm your flight details.
Yes, I've used them for regular and more obscure routes, bought quite a lot of flights, and always found them to be good. Check both the .com and .com.au sites, as the prices can vary.
Thank you for all your replies. Some of these savings are upwards to $2k - particularly the BNE to SFO flights I am looking at for July. I'm thinking of doing something totally different again to a ski trip.
just don't change your booking. a credit voucher is almost useless and very restrictive and watch the site you use us v au etc
So I've gone ahead and booked 6 return tickets perth to Japan, via bestjet. Allowed me to select seats at the time of booking. Compared to booking direct with Singapore, Saved a$500 pp. Will let you know how it goes.
thats great! our work system has seat allocation but it doesn't work! So i had my doubts about that bit!
That's a very desirable feature of any travel agency, shopfront or online, the open supply of a means to access your own reservations. It is kind of like why Uber is attractive vis a vis taxi services for me, i.e. using the app to access to when and where the vehicle is that you are waiting for, especially when something goes wrong. Perhaps taxi operators now do that. Having booked a package cruise vacation next year including flights as part of the package through a travel agent who is too busy to keep us updated and says we cannot access the flights on the web sites of the airlines involved "because the wholesaler is managing that and does not allow you to do so". This means being forced to go through third parties, well a third and a fourth in this case, a little disconcerting and annoying even if at this stage we are just wanting to hop in and select the seats.
