    Snowing in Japan
Skis waxed, boots polished, debit card loaded, sim card loaded, toenails cut, hair cut, bed booked, shake of the tail and we're off to wake up this morning in Nagano to high cloud slowly moving in from the west.
Find some breakfast, then a bus upto Inchinose in Shiga Kogen and hopefully a big play pen.
Must say the Japanese make it so easy to travel around the country and make you feel welcome and at ease. - thanks:thumbs:
PS. I think hipess cancelled a lot of my brownie points.....

I like to travel with my fav skis but tends to be a bit of a hassle managing a decent bag and a ski bag. Pulled out the sowing machine and with a few tweaks here and there came up with a lightweight harness that holds the skis to the bag. Easy on and eady off. Hooked them together at Natita and it worked a treat, easy to walk, easy on and off the trains and easy to store upright in the luggage area.
Possible another tweak when back home but for now its a winner:)

This TR starts very good - looking forward to continuation. (Did you not take Hipess along?) Might have put Shiga in the heading to make TR searchable

It will be brilliant! Snowbuck and I were sorry to be on the bus coming down from Shiga Kogen only yesterday, but our knees were a little grateful! The snow has been great there this year if a little less than they usually get!

Very pleasant ride through yhe many SK resorts on the way to Inchinose. Checked into the Diamond Shiga who were most gracious welcome with a room overlooking the Diamond ski slopes across the road. I think I'll enjoy no driving and a short stroll to the lift.
After a bit of a chat and getting organised headed out with the Elan wingman 86 to a very nice playing field of loose packed with a couple of cm fluff that skied very nicely:). no crowds anywhere with just one or two chairs or gondalas wait. Wandered all over Yakebitaiyama including the Olympic course.
Be able to play forever here without getting bored:D
Started light snowing off and on and settled in late afternoon
Fast forward to this morning and I estimate at least 30 to 40 cms on top of cars and still floating down:D:D
Pics later. Urgent things to do like breakie and smashing some pow.....:woohoo:

I'll be there on Thursday morning.

Some advice.... The freeze level will top 1800m from Wed morning, heading towards 2400m on Thu, with rain Wed night & Thu morning, clearing late afternoon. Yakebitai should be ok on Wed, but go high on Thursday, and head to Yokoteyama(1750-2305m). You can catch a shuttle bus from just next to the bridge 50m outside Diamond Shiga, to Yamanoeki bus terminal (see first page of the Shiga Kogen thread), then another bus to Yokoteyama. (if the freeze level is a bit lower, it's worth heading to Kumanoyu first)

How do I describe a day that my brain is tryong to deal with...
30 to 40 cms of fresh light, dry snow with staches twice that across the resorts overnight and continued for most of the morning with little breeze breeze and good vis.
Then sunshine broke through bringing the snow monsters alive in all their glitter. Just magic.
And the skiing - floating and chuckling like never before.
Again skied Yaebi resort in the morning and after a much needed mushroom udon did Inchinose Family, Terakoya with stunning views acroos the mountain ranges 40Kms to Mt Myoko dominating above the clouds, down a simply delightful long, long cruise run with giant Snow monsters guarding the narrow trail capped in blue sky to Hoppo resort. A few more chairs before heading onto Gaint resort with some untouched staches to be found before finding short but sweet black runs on the edge of the courses in Husuike.
Then back track through through chopped up pow that was still so light and dry skiing it was still fun.
    Some photos .....it did happen:D

    Yakebitaiyama resort from Terakoya Resort

Need a break during a :D "side" run

Hope my skis are still down there
Snow monster guarding a little short cut

    Happy trails
    :):):)

Yakebitaema was certainly my favourite spot, but the views at Terakoya are simply wonderful! Glad you’re getting that powder, @hipo !

Keen to get your view on the Wingman.....

I took a new pair to Europe. Found them to be pretty versatile and they handled steep and groomers no probs.

Unfortunately no powder at any stage so very interested to get your view buddy.

    Enjoy the trip. Cheers.

@hipo is fine. I just had dinner with him. He did tell me yesterday he just hasn't got around to checking the forum for a while. I think mostly several days of skiing with @Sandy and his crew may have taken their toll on some of us seniors. It's not quite like it was here 30 years ago.

I still have to make the effort to update my own TR.

I let him know of your concerns at breakfast. Not sure if/when he will get around to posting himself.
We will be heading out shortly (lift opens at 8:25) and sounds like we will head out to Sun Valley for a change of scene.

Thanks for the thoughts, guys and my Lady.
Guess I prefer skiing, eating, a cold beer and a snooze to journalism...

Have to like Shiga Kogen. 3. days of fresh pow above the boots, many days of fluff or super
Oz pow and one day of the worst death cookies ever seen but give a nice foot, knee, hip, and jaw bone massage over a 2km run:)
Great skiing with @Sandy and @Heinz and a crew from Falls.
Lots of pics but will save posting till back home
Would I come back here- definitely
Now to work my way over to Nozawa.
