They should revert back to the original name - Helicopter.

A name like Helicopter might give first timers the impression that the chairs spin around like an amusement park ride and that they would get dizzy? o_O

hey, I wasn't starting a rumor :| It came from the BSL operations manager directly.

The signage is coming off all the vehicles both BSL and RMB.

I too preferred helicopter..but of course, both the old names, come from the old tipple.

    I didn't ask, but I guess it's Abom Express

The rumor I keep hearing is, that Winter has be renamed to the OFF SEASON...

Some mountain bike riders on the bus asked, what happens at Buller when you
can't ride for the few months between May and September :)

Many lodges (and big ones like SkiLib) are at times completely full in summer now.

Glad to hear the cycling is doing well, just what Buller needed.

They should have called it the Chumpy Express for 2014.

Or the Anton Express. But I guess his family already has a chairlift named after them.

They should name it after the aboriginal wife of Craig Bonza, Bewdy.

Yes, it's now the Abom Express.

Although spinning it as fast as an amusement ride would get me to the top faster... not necessarily a bad thing. Could then name it the Sandie Jeffcoat Express in appreciation of his 'rapid' snowmobile runs up the same line.

It'll always be the Baldy Chair to me.

81 I was sitting in the top station box of the old Baldy Chair, no door and hurricane blowing, day after day.
Good thing nobody used it I didn't have to move often, but that was when Baldy Poma's ran and you'd have to be brain dead to ride a chair to Baldy when you can ride a surface lift and not get your head blown off or mild case of hypothermia.

De-icing it was a bugger, the top beam was a channel facing upward so it had a dome of ice over it and had to straddle it to reach the pulley with the hammer. No handles, no railing, no harness.
Blue lifts under JHW was dangerous bastards Inc which is why I fled to Orange under Hans who was as mad but not as dangerous to work for, aside from the staff Ziggy Zaggy.
    Anyway, enough war stories.

At least Abom Express is easy to remember.
Pity its not a chondala, seen a few people nearly loose shit on it due to the wind's over the saddle.
I've gone up at and done up my parka and shell and people each side look at me like, what for, by the time we make it half way they find out why.

Maybe a sign at the bottom.
"Secure loose articles, possible strong side winds ahead."

Is it that Holden's sponsorship ran out, or Holden ran out of the country?

The Abom was called the Abominable Snowman, locally known as the Abom which they changed it to later.
