Fantastic skiing today, but the crowds! Cleared out over lunch and I got a chance to make my mark on Wall of Death.

That first gravity turn at the top of the Wall of Death is the one it's all about!

Busiest day of the year i reckon. Such a magic day though. On the bus now after a late arvo skinny ski to wire plain for some peace. The mountain looks very very good

And only short queues on most lifts most of the time. Does anyone know why cat skiing was not running today-would have been the perfect day for it???

What a day! After maybe 15 years on telemarks (and frankly still not that great at it) my growing sons bugging me to get into the extreme area had me strap on alpines (thanks @BrianWilson) for the first time ever, after a morning on the teles taught me their limits in the bottom of Mary's. So today was spargo loops (nicely groomed this morn) and marys, no nonsense, the ridge and chisolms etc. My legs have no more! 2 days here and not yet a run in heavenly!

And that dude on the sit ski....unbelievable how he rips....went past us in marys mogul exit

We have been discussing this in the lodge. Has anyone ever in the history of ever, seen the kat ski run? Or better still, been for a ride?

I'm out for a while because of a high din twisting fall... Means back to the camera... Captured @hongomania out on Blowhard today in the perfect sun.

I have never seen kat working. Rumours were going around yesterday that it might run on Sunday, but no?
It was a very nice weekend at the big H.

I used it once, a long time ago, when it was a couple of ropes you held onto out the back. However by the time it was ready to go you could have walked faster!

I don't think I've seen it operate for a number of years. If it is still running Sunday would have been a beaut day for it.

That's my only recollection of it - 2 ropes with 3 t-bars in series on each so would take 12 people per trip, this was about 15-20 years ago though!

Im a bit the same @PlowKing....want to get out but the 3 kids at different levels and desires + the partner makes it tricky.

My job this morning on this fine sunny day today is to take the 7 or 8yo littlies on le grande tour de hot ham.....xc to skiiers crossing-dav access to village-village loop-mother johnsons-another village-orchard trail. Maybe some bikkies at a hut somewhere. Build a little jump. They love that shit. Adventures not laps.

Very nice skiing this afternoon. Good for backcountry but the body needed a day in the sun in the resort. Snow is not too hard or soft, just right. Really leaning into those turns. Spargos the pick for me

Because, marketing, and it's technically offered, even if only once a season. They kept the proposed Avi Gully lift on the map for years too

Finally got the kids to sleep at 7, headed out with wife for a few laps on big D to warm our legs up for the week (first riding in a few years) and the farkers shut it down early-as we got there.
    :(
Sounds lame but was actually looking forward to having a few laps.

I did it back in 2010... I didn't even know it was there just came off the lift and the guy gave me a spin. Asked him where to go st the top and dropped it. Very fun.

You could hike and do it without the Kat

Was 3 or 4 tracks running through it.

Only managed a few down the Av Gully area myself to finish an inbounds day.
    Bit hard to get away.
Hoping for a few more down that way there this afternoon.
Realistically (family trip) no time to go any further out.
If anyone is keen this afternoon...
