Still no news on whether or not vehicle entry will be capped per day. Restricting vehicles makes no sense anyway. A car can have 1 to 12 people in it and cars don't stand in lift queues or line up for the loo or a burger.

They are apparently going to track how many are in each vehicle, as a way of monitoring numbers. Season pass holders have to pre-register with the names of all occupants in the car for every visit.

Latest easing to restrictions announcements include allowing communal facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms to reopen from 22 June. See https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/travel-restrictions-covid-19.
That makes it possible for lodges to open. Managing the cleaning will be a b*&^# through - that will include drying rooms and lounges too I expect.

That's good news. Though my experiences of club lodges are that is a minority of guests who do a thorough cleaning job. Employing cleaners may be a solution to cover the extra cleaning required to meet the government directions. Though that could break already stretched lodge budgets . Maybe clubs could offer a free room to a couple of members in return for diligent cleaning?

Mmm....maybe I'll get a van and offer cleaning. But only after lunchtime when I've had a nice ski.

I'd loosely be on the 7.30 to 9 first run program, cleaning 9.30 - finish then few side country laps.

Well.....25 year old me would have anyway!

Our experience is that contract cleaners in resorts do just as much as a piss poor cleaning job as members.

So it looks like the refund policy for tickets has been amended given the restricted availability of tickets.

What used to be a full refund with 24 hours notice has now been changed to a written request within 7 days of use for full refund, then a $50 fee until 48 hours before use, then no refund at all.

Like the people in orange vests currently going around the streets dabbing at poles and benches half-arsed! I think I may have an opportunity here to be a "deep cleaner". When I worked in a pathology lab and a tube or a rack of blood or serum samples was spilled, we would clean up VERY thoroughly. Unfortunately the majority have little idea about infection control and cleaning for biohazards.

Hiya. Sorry, not watching the forums at the moment :)

We headed up from Omeo yesterday and had a good chat to the guy who does that car parking checks.... sorry if you are watching, I cannot for the life of you remember your name, I'm bloody hopeless!

Yep, so pre-registration. Season pass holders will have a priority allocation and will have to fill out all the attendees. That will be checked off. Currently, everyone passing through has their name and phone number kept.

What a right royal pain in the arse for the resort and staff.

is that resort season pass or lift season pass?

I havent got a season vehicle pass, but I do have an epic pass on order for me and one of my kids who is super keen, but not my whole family who are mildly keen. Do we all have to have an epic to get registered?

cheers if this has been discussed, just trying to get my head around what it looks like

Bit concerned that we may can't book vehicle access when we want to go up with our Epic passes.

The most significant impact on the season with Hotham/Falls is around the sale of vehicle season passes, and not at least having a combined Hotham/Falls Creek pass available.

There is the back-up option at Hotham to access the ski area via the Dinner Plain bus if staying on that side of the hill - either in DP or down at Omeo (or camping at JB Plain).

Hoping someone can answer a question. I have emailed Hotham, but expecting a long response time......I have a 4yo son who has a registered snow pass card. Am i required to book for him from July, post school holidays? or can I just turn up with him to ski?
I will have an epic pass.

You still have to book his days.

After 13 July this shouldn't be an issue. Email tickets@hotham.com.au once you know your dates and they should be able to put them on his card.

What are your dates? I'm going up with my 4yo from August 9-14, assuming that ski school opens up.

Probably not going up before July 13. Intending to actually go when there is snow. Likely 17-19th July first visit and then some time in late August.....all depending on lodges opening up.

I just had a response from Hotham, advising that they will be charging $49 for season pass. Whilst this is a relatively low cost compared with everything else, was quite surprised as i thought kids remained free, and there is no further communication about it on their site.

Probably imagine that this cost will stay post Covid-19!

Interesting! I think I have seen similar on the Perisher site - essentially it's a choice between a season pass with a fee, or adding days onto a snowpass for each trip.

I think of it as a convenience fee - but more relevant when there were no concerns about going into a ticket office.

If you are only going up for a week at a time, and only once or twice in a season, it's not too difficult to go into the office and load the days.

If you are going up every weekend, I can see the appeal of just paying a flat fee and not having to bother.

    Aardvark

Sadly after carefully considering a range of factors ranging from the shared configuration of our lodge through to the risk factors of operating in the shadow of COVID-19, the Aardvark committee has decided to NOT OPEN to the public for season 2020. This is not a decision taken lightly and we would love to operate as per normal if we were confident of keeping our guests safe and reliably fulfilling bookings. The ongoing delay with advice on capacity restrictions and operating guidelines from authorities has also impacted on our difficult decision. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Aardvark next year during what we trust will be a more normal season.

It's going to be interesting having my first time visiting Hotham be *without* most of the lodges operating, as I get the sense generally that Hotham is a very lodge-heavy area?

I had Aardvark on my list of potential destinations, but I'm glad now that I secured a studio instead.

pretty sure that was the case at Falls, at least last year and possibly a bit longer.

what @nezumi said about convenience. In the overall cost of a season's skiing it's a pretty small factor. Annoying gouge though when it is very hard to see how it could be related to any costs they have

As horrible as it would be to know that your accommodation had fallen through, it would be even worse to be booked in at one of the ones leaving the call late. :(

For anyone wondering, this works, money gets taken out of your account immediately, and then you have access to register days you would like visit the resort.

Those that do open, will be restricted to 20 guests. This will be ok for smaller lodges, however problematic for others. I am led to believe it is doable, however a lot of work and extra processes.
