Having never been to Buller during school holidays, exactly how busy is it at the moment ?

Heading up tue/wed/thurs, expecting Tue to be hectic due to 1/2 price uni tickets

Take your lunch in your pocket to eat in wombat lift queue. Or maybe a book? You'll need it.
    Holidays + Buller = Bedlam
But that said near the whole resort is open now and as in the hoilidays it usually isn't perhaps people will be more spread out than usual and it won't be a problem?

when i left today at about 1.00 they were parking cars in the chain fitting bays down the hill, going to be a very busy week.

it was busy on the mountain today but the lift lines seemed to move well, although i kept away from usual bottle neck wombat.
grimas chair broke down and they had to fire up the auxillary motor to get the people off the lift.they opened boggy creek tbar to get the people who were in the line back up,some opted to walk back up to burnt hut.grimus still wasnt running when i left.but snow quality and cover is great so you will have a ball.

Buller sent out a news release saying Fed was open. True or another Buller myth?

I saw someone de-icing the towers yesterday, and the chairs were being de-iced today, so I guess they are intending on opening it.

Wombat had a pretty big line today, as with most busy Sundays, but that was the only big line I saw. That said I rode BB1 once early and that was it.

I just got home and all those people who had to park a long way down the road will be annoyed if it clears out and they can see a deserted Tyrol car park. When I left tonight it was not even 25% full.

Bloody grimus. That wasted a good hour of the morning. I couldn't believe how many people decided to walk back up to Burnt Hut. It is further than it looks.

word is that they started turning away day trippers at 2ish this arvo - no accom or gear arranged before you got to the gate, no entry! Sounds like it will be back to normal amounts of bedlam tomorrow.

The line for the bus back to Horse Hill at the end of the day was crazy. It went out past the Kooroora and worked its way across to the clock tower.

Buller Sports Central was a zoo as well.

Thank g_d for the horse hill chair. We had a great weekend. No lift lines at the bull run chair at all.The snow was fantastic and as long as you stayed waway from the main drags you were fine. the drive home last night was not great though, alot of people who did not want to live were on the road.

Cut 73 off standard was awsome and the bottom of fannys was just deep wind blown snow yestaerday but the top was icey.

Cut 73 - Saturday - POWDER, POWDER, POWDER. I was knee deep in it. I thought I was in Japan, not Australia!! What a great weekend. Haven't seen it like that in a couple of years. Sumersaulting down a powder run is soooooo much fun...

Both Saturday and Sunday were awesome.
I know there were lots of people around, but we didn't see them down Powder Keg, Outer Edge, Wood Run, Sun Valley, Cut 73 etc etc.

Also, the key to missing the crowds as best as possible is to ski through lunch. That way you get the shortest lift lines, and hopefully, a table when you do go in for lunch - although that is not always guaranteed. (We tried to eat at Tyrol on Sunday, but there was no moving those people who'd been there since their 10:30 coffee!!)

We are doing some pretty big numbers here, all the usual suspects have pretty decent lines but if you're smart about how you move around the mountain there's no need to wait more than a few minutes.

Why is it people avoid Southside? That would have to be one of the easiest lift to use in Oz! Ski down, ski up to the base, say hi to the bored lifties and straight back onto the lift you go!

took the daughters and friend up for a ski on monday and it was a great day.
first in the horse carpark at 730 and it was blowing pretty gusty so was a little worried but it dropped off a fair bit late arvo, blue skies, nice snow and lifts not to bad.
grimus did breakdown a few times but with boggy running no dramas.
    however,
got to say how much i loathe buller sports central and not happy with horsehill store either,
why on earth dont they have operating times on the shop to let people know when they open!!!
wasted 1.5 hrs at horse hill for them to open and when someone turns up tells us its not open till 9 to hire gear and then have to go to central and spend another 1hour just to get the kids kitted out!
very slow service and a very frustrating system.
    wont be doing that again.
so from arriving at 730 finally got to go downhill on skis at 10.30.

have you rung resort management to register this complaint?

in my experience...having a go at the shop assistant (anywhere) will yield nothing

I would be ringing resort mment and letting them know. Not hard for them to fix

    hi mx
didnt ring management or even complain to a sales assistant, just kept my cool and went about my business, was not going to let the day be ruined by the start we had.
i am always more organised for my visits to the snow but this time we could only leave home at 4 in the arvo as we live in portarlington its an extra 1.5 hrs from melbourne and we usally hire gear in mansfield the day before so we are ready to go, but by the time we got to mansfield all the hire joints had closed for the day.
    thats were the problems began
ahh well it was still a good day on the snow
