These forums offer three (3) theme options;
  1. Default Light Style

  2. Alternate Dark Theme

  3. Xenforo Standard Theme

There are two ways to change your theme and it is very easy.
  1. Update using the theme selector in your preferences
  2. Use the Style switcher at the bottom of every forum page.

NOTE: Style choices are a hard setting that is attached to your login -- if you change a style on a PC it will change the style on your other devices when next you login on a phone or tablet.

nice to have choice but i don't understand why some prefer dark.

I've avoided the xenforo theme because I guess that long term it will get least love. I just have to hope that light doesn't suffer a similar fate

Light & Dark share the same parent code base, so there is no letting one slide over the other. Most folk are on Light because it is the default.
I had assumed that but then wondered if you might possibly have been trying to herd us to one main theme

I knew Dark existed, I have had a look before but never lasted long.
Have implemented now and will stick with for a while.
Once you go black you never go back Im told.
I tried dark on the old system but didn't really like it. Might be good from a battery saving POV

since my eyesight has deteriorated, I can't handle white background, and so all my screens at work, home and phone all function in dark mode/high contrast so my characters are white on black background

Hey at Richard I just realised I have OS enabled dark theme on my phone and that means when I switch to your dark theme it goes back to light or default mode

I have been emailing google, Microsoft and soon apple accessibilty support groups and the best config for desktop at the moment is google workspace on windows albeit using excel not sheets

happy to chat about this more if you like but this is why I haven’t enabled dark theme on here

thanks for the thread mate appreciate it!

I have dark theme enabled on my iPhone and both dark and light theme behave on the phone exactly the same as they do on desktop

is it possible to separate the two?
as the choice is embedded in the website and not the device it appears the only NOT ideal way to do it is to have two separate forum accounts one for phone and one for lap/desktop.
having said that how hard would it be to put a 3 position toggle switch on the menu bar for instant switching for whatever device you happen to log on with.
also, with permission, isn't the website able to detect what device it's being viewed with and act accordingly.

There once was a lad of the Thunda,
who wanted the world rent-asunda,
with ban hammer handy,
