Was up at BB yesterday and noticed that Hut Run Platter (probably my favourite lift) was not operating. Asked a towie why, thinking that maybe they were short staffed or decided that there weren't enough people on the mountain. She said that the cable had stretched and had to be replaced. This raised a few questions in my mind. Assuming that the towie was telling the truth, is this a common occurrence? I assume that the cable is spliced at some point, so couldn't a piece be cut out and the cable rejoined? I imagine that replacing the whole cable would be an involved process that couldn't be done quickly, so is the lift likely to be out of action for the rest of the season? BTW had a great day skiing!:)

Splicing tow calls is a pretty specialised task. I know falls went through a patch where there was none on the staff left who was qualified to do it.

Thanks JLou! Great to hear that Hut is running again. You are fortunate to have family that can give you the "inside" info on operations at Baw Baw.:)
