Millennials? Who listens to them to start with? Not worth responding to if they can't contribute to a conversation in an intelligent manner! :p :out:

Is that someone who holds ostensibly progressive views but is willing to cave on them in order to secure glory for themself?

    *Mod note*

I see the usual near season SDS (Snow Deprivation Syndrome) is going well with a bit of a covid boost.

This is "Snow Talk" please go back to talking about snow related topics.

If you want to keep talking about boomer stuff the thread could easily be moved to CV or the pit :D

Both of my kids are on the spectrum. The older one is the one that wants to be able to do jumps/park ski. He probably fatigues more easily than someone not on the spectrum, but he handles most physical activity OK.

The younger one is more obviously on the spectrum than the older one, and he is my speed demon. He looks very awkward and stiff when trying to run or attempt most land-based sports, but glides through the water like a fish when he swims. He’s very strong, but gets tired easily. He spent two NZ trips over two years attempting to learn to snowboard, before deciding to switch to sking last year. I was impressed that he went from being scared to attempt a 3m snowplough slide on our first morning, to being able to ride a chairlift and ski a green run by our fourth day.

Once we can find an instructor who can convince both boys that parallel skiing is actually less energy-intensive than using a snowplough, I’m going to struggle to keep up!

Neither of your boys sound unusual. I really enjoy working with young guests on the spectrum, most of them get so much out of sliding on snow.

If you get to Perisher I can really recommend Kaz McLachlan. She is popular so try and book her as soon as you know you're heading down.

Like any parent, there are times where my kids make me want to pull my hair out, but they also have a great capacity for kindness and empathy. They are real characters and I love spending time with them. I have loved watching them develop their skills on the snow over the last few years, and seeing the joy on their faces when they do something new on the snow is bloody amazing. Ι would love to be a guide for other kids on the spectrum once my kids are a bit older and more independent.

Thanks for the tip about Kaz. I’ll definitely look into booking her when we go down.
