That's good in that most tourists from Asia are beginners, and the companies investing in Niseko now are Asian companies.

It’s got a few nice bits from the peak and skiers left towards the onsen, if I remember correctly.

I did a quick research in Japanese on Chisenupuri.

    It seems
1:JRT Trading is a Westerner owning company and they are organizing CAT tours on Chisenupuri now. JRT Trading is organizing CAT tours in Shimamaki too.

2:A Singapore based company MMP Resources is(or was) interested in buying Chisenupuri.
    MMP Resources : http://mmpresources.com/

3:Rankoshi village(the local village) is requesting to renew lifts(or at least a lift) within 5 years(the article was released 17months ago, so by 2022?)

Yip, and very limited vertical. Did a couple of early morning runs in the cat last year for Y2000. Wouldn't bother with a full day.

There are some steeper runs skier's left if you're touring, but not back to the cat base.

    Only 2000 Yen!?

Skier's left? You mean is the red?. Red looks nicely steep in the map. Green is the ex-Chisenupuri ski resort.

Yesterday was nice out the gates as they were closed the day before
Top photo is from this morning. Only Hanzono 1 and 2 and Hirafu Gondola open. Windy up top. Good powder in the trees early and the crowd stayed reasonable. I covered every run in lower Hanazono, including the trek though the trees far skier’s right to get to the cuts in the pine plantation. Not many turns in it, but great snow.
Pretty good here, after a few years away. I agree with previous posts about the crowds: plenty of people in the resort but the only queues are when the top is closed for wind. Busses run fine, I’m in the lower village and get the first bus every morning no problem. The predominance of Aussies seems to have been diluted by lots of Americans and English. Funnily enough, some of them are as bad as us when young, drunk and loud.

Id like to give a huge rap to Yumanchu for dinner. Big find for us. Fantastic food and very reasonable prices. Needs booking though.

Sssshhhh, that's one of my secret spots - never used to need to book. Did you try the salted squid guts?

Y2000 is supposed to be for any early morning tourers to have one assisted Cat tour to access Chise (House of Powder giving back to the locals etc). We just bombed down one run, but that's not the idea of the operators intention!

Even the area to skiers left from the top of the green (old lifted) area is relatively steep - but short.

Not at Yumanchu but I recall asking one time “Kore ha nan desuka?” And instantly regretting it when I saw the kids faces as the gentleman says in his best English “Crabuuu gutssaa” LOL

Sounds like blasting up top the last three mornings I didn’t think they did avi control here but around this time I’ve heard several blasts . With all this wind and snow there must be some incredible cornices and loads out there

Crappy day again. Sleet overnight, cold air looks to have arrived now, sideways snow out the window, almost all lifts closed. Real cyclone out there
