Yes there is some, but often it's not really possible to ski in and out.

Personally, I've never found ski in ski out to be that exciting. Yes it's kind of cool being able to ski in and out, but then just about everything else is a hassle, going out in the evening, unpacking etc. Admittedly, this is rarely an issue at Thredbo as the roads are kept open.

I like ski in/out because you don't have to worry about mountain transfer from n to town. I prefer staying on the mountain provided there are enough shops and restaurants in the village

Keep in mind that you need sufficient snow for ski in/out. You're not going to get that very often at Thredbo (particularly this year)

Do you mean ski in/ski out as in you can physically ski in to your chosen accommodation, or just staying on the mountain? I would consider most accommodation within Thredbo village to be walking distance to the slopes, you don't need a transfer like you would if you stayed in Jindabyne.

As @Interruptedbyfireworks said if you stay in Thredbo village you are staying on Mountain, but not necessarily ski in ski out. In addition to everything being within walking distance, there is an excellent bus system for when you have your ski boots on.

I would also add river inn is not ski in ski out.

As stated already there are only a few chalets in Thredbo that are true ski in ski out but they are on the ski hill side of the river. This means you have a five plus minute walk to town and the restaurants.

The is a lot of accommodation within 5 minutes walk from the lifts.

This reminds me of the old/lower village at Panorama in Canada. You could literally ski to the door/lifts but the whole thing was over an underground carpark so you could also park close by and unload easily to your condo. I also lived 30m from the pub and even closer to the nearby hot tub so it was win-win-win all round for me for a season in my late 20s

Yes. You got me . I meant staying on mountain and walking distance to slopes. When I was in Sun Peaks Canada, outside of the ski storage room of my hotel there about ten steps of stair walking up to the slope. It is so convenient. I can't physically ski and out of hotel .But you can ski right outside most of the restaurNts and shops and leave the gear outside .

Thredbo village is mostly built on the slope on opposite side of the river to the ski lifts. So most accom is close but you can't ski to/from the door. a few places are on the ski run side.

It's a very cold side of the river to stay on.

Hi a bit off topic. Is Panorama harder to ski than Sun Peaks?

^^^^^Agree 100%, when talking Australia. Other destinations differ depending on set up.

Sorry, I only just saw this question now. I've only skied Sun Peaks once, in pretty low cloud and ordinary snow. I know the Pano ski hill much better but I do believe Pano has much more variety of terrain and more steeps. It doesn't always get all the snow but when it does, it's absolutely spot on. Also the base for RK Heli skiing. And loads more picturesque than all the resorts in the interior. Happy to talk about Pano til the cows come home (even though I haven't been there for a long time) - ask me anything you like but we should take it over to the Canada forum :)
