Why don't you want to order it over the net? The best that I have found is to order on travelex over the net and then pick it up from one of their locations.

Mate, my server is being a right pain in the a##e at present. The last couple of days they've really been asleep at the switch. Sorry. I'm looking at transferring it over to somewhere more reliable but that will take time plus there's some security and database issues. Best I can do right now is keep hassling the service department every 10 minutes. Just keep trying.

Be careful with sizes in Japan. Some of the gear is not sized in Japan. So for example, Marmot, ARBN, Bonfire, etc, etc are US sizes, while some stuff like Goodwin is Japanese sizes.

There are still some larger sizes around, but pants are more scarce than jackets!!!!

Don't worry Smitty - the pow pics / cams will be there in the morning for you. Just transferring over that domain to something more reliable. The other domain is a little more problematic as the %$#& have suspended my account after I hounded them all day and now I can't get in to transfer over the sql bases.

Any point in rummaging around these shops next Sunday on the way through to Hakuba, or has any bargain worth getting already gone? I was looking for a set of nice mid-fats for the +1.

    Yes, definitely worth a look.
They have K2 Lotta Luv in there:
Radius: 15 m, 119 - 78 - 105 mm, which is similar to the Recon, but a woman specific ski. Around 30,000yen with bindings.
There are also others of the K2 "Luv" series with less performance, and cheaper.

So it looks like I am slowly converting a few Aus snow tragics into Japanese tragics. My latest conquest has been my aunty and uncle. They have expressed interest in going to Japan in Feb 2012, only thing is they are seasoned cross country skiers. Do any of the Japanese resorts groom cross country trails? Or is it mostly just ski wherever there is snow (as there is generally a lot). I don’t cross country ski myself, so I have no idea what sort of thing would be good for them.

Anybody done the JetStar Melb to Tokyo via Goldy flight?

Never flown Jet* before so was wondering if arriving at check-in at Melb airport an hour before the flight was enough time or should I get there earlier?

    Thanks again

Ticket says get there 2 hours before and that check in closes an hour before. Not sure how strict they are on that. I will be getting to Goldy airport early to try and sweet talk my way into an exit seat.

Check in closes either 30 mins prior to departure (if departing from domestic terminal)
    or
60 mins if departing from an international terminal.

    yeah bdenny4....what TOFF said.

If you get there 1 hour before the flight takes off....you're gonna miss it!!

You really should be there 2 to 2and a half hours before hand.

yeh I realise that, but if they haven't sold them then it's possible to sweet talk your way into them. I did it to and from bail. No harm in asking [IMG]

As you are flying through to japan though won't you have to check in international? I'm sure I had to do that last year when flying melb-syd-narita

    Thats balls...
Personally I'd check in at Melbs over an hour before my flight.

Lucky its at the gold coast - so its not too hectic.

Yeah think I might get there 90 mins before departure (6am departure) just to be sure.
    Not looking forward to a 3am wake-up.

Might have to start drinking after rechecking at Goldy

I fly out on Wednesday! [IMG]

Just have a thousand things to do before then, but I'm too excited to care.

Yes I am getting VERY excited. Work is becoming increasingly less important as the days go by. Not that it was necessarily very important to begin with lol.

You're right about the jetstar check in process.
Mel to Goldy is domestic therefore the check in closes 30 mins prior to flight. You have to collect bags in goldy then check in again. It's not too bad because the terminals are all together from memory last year and everyone else is doing the same thing.
It sure beats going via Cairns. The domestic to international trek is about 500m in Nth QLD summer heat with bags and clothes on planning on winter Japan temps.
I usually wear shorts getting on the plane in melbourne and change when I get to Japan. Vice versa getting home. It's nice to change into shorts and t shirt on the gold coast and have breakfast in the sun before flying back to melbourne.
I'm doing the same next wednesday morning. 5 days work before then really sucks, but hopefully forecast is good for some powder on the first few days after arrival.

Get bags out on the right side and the check in is a bit of a free for all, domestic and international at the same counters. Just follow the hordes with ski bags, preferably someone who looks like they know what they're doing! [IMG]

We are leaving from Melb 7pm and then catch the 825pm flight direct to Tokyo

Look out for a guy with a beard with a electric blue helmet swinging from a Fox Backpack, that will be Twoheads...Come say Hi!!

We are in Furano Feb 5th-12th then Hakuba Feb 16th-24th with a couple of days in Tokyo in between.. [IMG]

hmm Zao, I have always wanted to get up to there. I'm trying to factor myself into the trip as well so that rules Asahidake out as I would like to try some place new.

Back online after a few days away. Had a few days skiing different areas around Inawashiro and the last couple at Onikoube.
