    Hey guys,

This 'special' came out today. Feb & March dates for 2018 included.

    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/deals/japan-return-for-free

I've had a look ex Adelaide into Tokyo or Osaka and can't find a single free return leg. Plus the baggage costs an arm and leg on top when taking ski bags. I think I'll stick with a full service airline.

Hope someone else has more luck than me!

Found a bit of return availability using Kayak (with the 3 days flexible either side of the dates option switched on). Losts of seats in March and some in early Feb. I found nothing in April, which is when I was looking at - April school hols for a Hokkaido trip with the family for some spring skiing.

Total cost was $400-500 return incl tax but + other minor Jetstar incidentals.

Jetstar are such a rort with these things. Yep, return leg is free, but we'll slog you $2k in sundries that you can't live without, such as baggage. Often works out the same price as going with a proper airline.

    Yeah i actually msg @LMB

I priced it up for YK and I and its was just over $2k without baggage. I have never paid more than $1200pp all the way to CST.

Oh and Jetstar is 3 flights to get to CST - Q is 2

I got under $800 return last year on Cathay. They diddled me out of my FF points though (and not stated anywhere that it was a non qualifying flight).

I'd much prefer Cathay with no points of Jet star

I was listening to some dodgy Rugby League talk back radio station in Sydney and an Ad came of from "Escape Travel" saying fairs to Japan for 400 and something . I quickly went on their website. Couldn't see anything . It's probably out of ski season anyhow . Still might be worth investigating further .

As we live on the GC Jet star is so much easier flying direct to Narita out of Cooly, well so I thought. The Friday direct flight we had booked has now been cancelled and is now via Cairns with 2.5 hr layover. The have given option to change.
Just for info our returns are $800 inc all excess fees 25kg each inc 1 ski bag, food, and exit row seats.
Exit row seats is the only way I can get my wife to fly J star, this will be out 5th trip using J star, the night trip home is torture..J star, with those seats is value IMO.

I booked return tix from Sydney to Haneda direct end of Feb for $1089 with ANA. I tried the same flights with similar luggage etc. with that Jetstar deal and it turned out to be more exy. That deal is for hand luggage only on inconvenient days with inconvenient flight times.

And all the same issues as mentioned before. Once you add luggage it's not that great.
