Balcony cam says .... derpity derpity derp close the shop it's ski time.
Haven't moved for nearly 2.5 hours. Now drizzling and my snowman just slid off the bonnet of the car, grader went past bout 40 min ago but no movement yet.
Clear sky in PV. Looks to be 15-20 here overnight. Going to be a good day
Apologies for the poor quality. This is my Mother In Laws place at Wallerawang, just out of Lithgow. Still snowing this morning.
Resort update anyone?
Perisher reporting 10-15cm overnight, Buller 1cm, Falls & Hotham 3-4cm.
I observe bit of snow in Bowral last night
Perisher claiming 10cm at bottom I presume.
To the person who complained about non-skiable places talking about snow I say "15+cm on the ground this morning at Mt Victoria, NSW, and I'm going skiing..."
Mt Victoria now.
Thredbo claiming 30cm past 24 hours
Wouldn't bother - looks crap.
No friends on a powder day
Can't embed with my phone but look up 'South Katoomba RFB' on Facebook to see the nice thick blanket in Katoomba. RFS guys were out assisting in it.
Katoomba looking very nice (from DT)
I observe cars and trains covered in snow..a tad chaotic west of lawson I understand.
Some great pics coming in on twitter.
Katoomba Train station
After over 3.5 hours stuck on Hume highway we just started to crawl very slowly ...lots of slush and snow on the road. Take care driving everyone.
Heading south? We're travelling to Jindy this afternoon from Sydney and are wondering whether it is worth delaying. Keep us posted
I wanna agree with you, but IMO today will be better.
I observe -8 at top of Thredbo...
You may be right,
I observe that it looks amazing up there
Perisher looks to have filled in real nice.
We're on the road to Thredbo, just going past ski tube, some wet and snowy patches but definitely no need for chains to the tube.
Will post Thredbo obs when I get up there and have gotten some runs in (of course)
****ing cold & wet here in Sydney this morning
Balmy 10deg here in Moorabbin. Had a heavy shower from the SE on the drive to work tho (No bike again, smart move).
That cold air really went over the top of Vic.
QLD snow pics are rolling in. Reports say up to 8cm so far.
Just outside Stanthorpe QLD.

amen to that - it was 4.9 when I left the house, felt like 0.1 here on the northern beaches! That's as cold as I've ever seen it round my parts....
I observe that snownami has delivered a rare event, just not the mega dump that was (only ever) hoped for at the resorts.
It'll be interesting to see if my new baby boy believes me (when he can truly understand) when I tell him he was born into a storm that brought significant snow to Queensland.
Still a balmy 6.8 at the moment according to BOM
Yes heading south 4.5 hours in gridlock, road was graded and we are now travelling safely. Road now open but may take awhile to clear traffic. Funny seemed like only a couple of km of snow, roads all clear past Marulan.
I observe that this Sydney average July maximum is still 0.4° above trend.
What miserable winters there must have been in the olden days.
Thanks for that good to hear. I observe that the RMS has updated the live traffic site to show that 1 of 2 lanes are now open in both directions with 12km queues.
BOM showing Applethorpe in QLD still only at 0.5 degrees . Apparent temp sitting on minus 5.8. Moisture since 9am is 1.6mm. Could be still falling as snow.
7.5C in sydney at 10am wet and cold dreaming of the snow
Perisher car park -4C and clear skies this morning. All guns blazing. Still blazing!
The drive up was fine, actually very beautiful with all the fresh snow in the trees. Chains required from Wilson's for 2WD.
Pleasant and Interceptor still closed, everywhere open is great fun. Queues not too bad, I guess that will come tomorrow.
Pretty Valley cafe has changed hands but can confirm the hot chocolate is as good as ever.
Don't know how to post pics from my phone sorry, but believe me when I say my first day on snow this year has been most excellent so far!
Night skiing in QLD.
Good start to the base for the QLD ski season.
Looks like QLD currently has more snow than the Tasmanian ski resorts.
I observe one last pulse pushing up from the SW on the satellite.
I observe...SNOW DAY for a lot of lucky kids.
"A number of public schools in the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands will be closed due to snow. The schools in the Blue Mountains include Megalong Primary, Katoomba Primary, Katoomba Primary, Katoomba North Primary, Katoomba High, Leura Primary and Blackheath Primary. Eight schools in the Southern Highlands (Binda, Lagan, Kangaloon, Bigga, Crookwell, Taralga Public Schools, the Highlands School at Mittagong and Crookwell High School) have also shut for the day"
Friends street in Blackheath
10.06am update - both sides closed again!
Report from family at Hotham is that's its blizzard conditions (fog, wind, snow) up top and now fitting chains to all vehicles.
I am heading up later today.
Expecting lots of pics as the Hotham thread is pretty light on.
Not according to the RMS:
Whoops - i miss read!
I just saw 'closed'
Thredbo reporting 104 cm for the 7 days. You would take that any season but especially this season. What a transformation. Thank you Huey.
Cold windy and sunny at blue cow. Bizzare day. Snow pretty cold... bit scraped and wind affected
Queues are getting shorter at Mittagong. Update from a few minutes ago:
The queue on the Mt P triple is as bad as I've ever seen it. It's the only lift running on Mt P and this mornings frothnami has overwhelmed it.
Conditions are near perfect. It's cold, guns still going, sky is clear.
I observe that Alex Chumpy Pullin is/was stuck on the Hume Highway too trying to get to Jindy.
Another update from RMS at Mittagong:
