Windy in Smiggins. No precipitation if any sort right now but wind has increased to window and roof-rattling level.

Did the harbour bridge climb today. Skies were very angry looking. Winds NW all day, felt mild and spitting rain every now and then. All as predicted so far :)

Wind picking back up here in southern Adelaide again after a lull this arvo. Not much rain hitting the ground, it's all going sideways too much.
Start of the next front is appearing at edges of Buckland Park radar now. Off to bed, eager to see if I can file a snow report for Adelaide tomorrow from somewhere other than Mount The Barton.

Few years ago we had some panels peeled up off the roof and the Perisher firies had to come down and drill holes and hang sandbags full of concrete as a temporary repair holding it more-or-less in place. It can get _very_ windy up here when it puts its mind to it!

I have the car parked such that hopefully not too much can get picked up and flung at it at 120km/h.

Pro-tip for anyone parking at the Bullocks Flat carpark: watch out for the possibility of gravel and large branches adjusting your car if it is going to be as windy as it looks.

I was at the horse riding property up on the hill today where the skies indicated a significant weather event was on its way. Warm westerly winds confirmed the onset of change to come as pre-lenticular shapes along with those strange formations where there appears to be dents in the underside of the cloud, contrasted with the patches of blue gradually receding to the north east. As the previous day Sunday had started with mist obscuring horses, fences, trees, and crops any further than fifty metres away, the likelihood of a sustained period of cold weather ahead, and not merely the passage of a passing front, did occur to me. At present in the dark, it is difficult to establish the precise nature of the formations overhead, though with some stars visible, I can see the few about are not mere waifs but of the nature observed this morning at Peats Ridge. All in all, very little to report really, though the air is thick with anticipation here and the fire is going.

Cars must get gravel-blasted once or twice a year in that car park. Sometimes windows are broken, etc. I can't believe they haven't paved it properly. We take the shit car down when we know we will be parking there

I observe my machinery shed has a nice new pitched roof that may get tested a bit over the next 2 days LOL
Also observed some snowfall on the front valley cam a few minutes ago.

Snow line is at the top of the high noon steeps, sleet half way down and rain in the village, puking and blowing up high.

Wind is howling this morning in Jindy. A long day of wind hold coming up. Bit of snow overnight at Perisher. BOM is going for 100% chance of snow today. Not a lot forecast but home hopefully up around 30mm by 9am Wed in the gauge.

Virtually no snow overnight at Smiggins. Our driveway has a bit of ice/rime on it and the road up the hill to Perisher looks the same. Nothing new accumulated on the shrubberies or any roof I can see.

Dark clouds well above the top of the hill (clear visibility up the duplex from where I am sitting), moving through really quickly powered by a strong-enough-for-widespread-wind-hold wind and with patches of blue sky even between the clouds sometimes.

Imagine the photos below illustrated by a roaring of wind and rattling of roof...

Nowhere near any snow in Thredbo Village. Maybe a dusting up above the freeze line. Resort saying 5cms. Think I can see plumes from snowmaking. Cats still out doing their thing. Very windy and I presume we will have wind hold. Will send uninspiring photo shortly with a bit more light.

Just checked the Perisher app - haven't received the daily snow report email yet but I think wording will be the same - and they are saying "12cm in the last 24 hours", which I parse as the 7cm they claimed yesterday morning plus 5cm since (blown around during the day yesterday plus a smidge overnight).

Watch out for the second front passage. Came through SA this morning, many places hitting over 100km/h with 139km/h at Cape Willoughby and Neptune Is. Apart from that I observe nothing, it's dark.

BOM Perisher says the gauge went from 15mm at 930pm to 21.2 at 230am

Maybe the uppers were too high and it fell as rain

As I said in my earlier post all I can do to make it add up is the 7cm they found (somewhere) yesterday morning plus 5cm blown around during the day yesterday and overnight, which the cynical could argue was double (or triple) counting the same snowflakes :) Anyway so far I can only say what I can see in Smiggins, maybe something significantly different happened mid-mountain or above in Perisher.

I do observe solidly darker clouds to the south now than in my earlier photo, wind maybe a bit less than earlier and no form of precipitation. I'll be skiing anyway :)

I am more surprised that they reported a new snow depth that wasnt in increments of 5cms. Did they get a new ruler/powerade bottle?
