Go for it.
Had a few spots of rain in Hawthorn around 20 mins ago.
Blustery out there.
Thankyou, don't know why my attempts failed. Anyhow, I observe starting to get showers through Hallam and 12c, a lot colder than the forecast of 15.
Temps at Hotham, Falls and Buller seem to be quite stable in the negatives, much better then might have been expected.
Freezing my tits off on a train platform in Richmond while the entire metro network is shut down in signal fault.
Gotta love it. Nothing beats the Melbourne Met.
Early obs from the high perch south east of Tumba. Slowly gathering cloud can be seen in the far southwest , Temp 3c , wind is 0.
Sheep have been grazing all day while generally heading in a southwest direction towards the lower lands and gullies. Workdogs are subdued , housedog wont leave my side. Birds were all a chatter about lunch time now much more quiet now which is slightly unusual just before sundown.
Not expecting any precip till the wee hours but that calm before the storm scenario definitely in play so expecting a fair wind at some point overnight and into the morning.
Observing the animals behaviour is a very well accepted way of what lays ahead. Also the plants. My pink lady apple has shed all its leaves today and they have been hanging on for weeks.
Its going to get windy then for certain , maybe even seriously windy.
Feels a lot milder than earlier, the northerly has strengthened.
Bloody windy up here in the Dandenongs. Thermometer says 9.7 but it feels more like 5 working outside. Had some showers earlier but all clear for now. I'm excited by the look of this next weeks worth of weather.
Just got up to Buller yet again... here until Sunday afternoon, just before the real storm starts .
Nonetheless will provide obs from the hill.
Very cold here in the Village, a bit of light rain on the way up from Mirimbah. A bit of wind too...
Now raining and very cold in Melbourne. Can't check radar at BOM as it's defaulting to Darwin for some reason
Boring in Sydney to be honest, nothing interesting weather wise to report. Calm before the storm perhaps?
Looking like no rain straight to snow here at hot ham
Only a few flurries so far though
I'm coming up Sat night and have cleared the calendar for next week. Oops.
Arriving Buller Sunday. Hoping to post more, lots lots more.
Oops??? That week is going to be awesome! I would wanna be up there. Could try and fit myself in the revolving door operation of the apartment I stay at. Probably going to be big crowds that weekend to get the 'freshies' though. As long as Southside(and maybe Bull Run) is open, I will be happy.
Wow! Have fun up there in the fresh snow. Save something for me!
Probably going to be the same for Buller. Some big juicy precipitation on the radar. I hope to report heaps of fresh snow in the morning.
Quietest week of the season.
Hotham holding -2. This gone be gud.
Yeah, done that last year. Very quiet. But the weekend if it is sunny and after 30-40cm of fresh
Another thing is there always seems to be a good snowfall that first week after the School Holidays at Buller. Possible trend or coincidence?
Well Hols are a week later this year so NFI.
Too much thinking, more skiing required
We had a North Eastlerly sea breeze here in Cronulla this afternoon. First one in a long time.
I observe on the Merritt's streaming cam that Thredbo are making snow in Twin Valleys tonight.
Police chopper over head here in Frankston. Not cold but blowing hard
I observe the light at the top of Kossie Express from my lodge in Thredbo village (that's 2 linear km and 550 vertical m away). In my experience you don't normally see that and have snow or rain soon thereafter but I'm willing to be proven wrong tonight
Very dark outside near Tumba , not a star in the sky , not much in the way of wind yet.
I'm going to pull the trigger and go up a day early tomorrow for hotham weekend. Hopefully pays off. Live obs to follow.
First rain at Tumba , very brief shower , more like a cloudburst really. Wind has freshened a little but still no more than a breeze.
Light snow at hot ham during evening stroll
Wow. Stanley's needs filling in....
A few flakes starting to fall in Buller and Perisher.
Yes, I like to watch pink ladies shedding their 'leaves' as well. Nothing to be ashamed of.
light shower and 6c in jindy should be snow sbove 1500m
As predicted, it's warming, Buller about to go +
Warm 10c on the hume. Light on and off rain.
Seems as though hotham has stayed negative
All Vic hills managed to stay neg through the night, all be it a bit marginal at Buller and Falls.
Cedarwood cam shows a cent or two accumulation at village level.
My first morning inspection at hotham shows only a cm, maybe 2 at davenport. Id expect alot of windblown into heavenly this morning though.
Not so sure about that looking at the bottom of snake gully. At any rate, it didn't rain and that's a good thing.
Steady rain now in Melb, not very cold either
+2.0 at LM. It's just not happening this year.
Can't understand why the deer needed to come down into the valleys - they should be up on the ski trails doing trail grooming for next year.
How do you look at the bottom of snake? Its dark out there
Some heavy coldies in the band moving through burn city now...
Ride safe CC!
