Ok, just before bedtime then (need to rest up, driving up tomorrow about lunch time!)
Don't comment too much, otherwise the company will shut down the camera for night views. Hussshhhhhh!!!!!
I observed myself in Tumba earlier today getting equipment into tip top shape for my debut this season on Saturday....and then onward for 6 excellent weeks before a finish with 2 weeks in NZ. Then there is the December/January trip to Finland ..............so far away right now.
Thank you for this reassuring post Taipan! In amongst the excitement at this snow fall, I'm acutely aware of the relatively small base at Perisher (particularly on the lower slopes) and the lack of any major dumps so far this year. I'm hoping we "get some love" from this system, as @Astro66 would say, and then ideally some follow up later. Forgive me for being off-topic for a moment, @Claude Cat!
Heavy snow on cedarwood cam
I observe its currently rocking at the Vic big 3
So on top of last nights 10cm, it has probably already seen 25cm today
Please folks - no more Grooming machinery pics.
Nice band of moisture sweeping through Albury Wodonga it heading for NSW Alps looks like it will go Nth of Bogong....straight through Tumbarrumba......
RMS says chains from Rangers Station to Thredbo, Sawpit to Perisher. I predict carnage in the morning.
How is it where you are Chickski?
From Merritts cam it looks like one great big puffy silk pillow.
Yes it comming down well...nice steady accumulation now.
I observe groomer damage almost completely covered up on Merrittscam!
I think it will hit Thredbo about midnight,1am
Yep. Whenever the isobars do a sharp 90 degree turn at 50 degrees south you know we'll be looked after.
Another 20cm since last nights 10 (on the table) - a bit more to come
Been out in Perisher all night. It hasn't stopped and the wind drift areas are shin deep.
And people were calling fizzer.
Guessing the BOM gauge is iced over then... been 4.8cm all day
Groomer was damaging the pow earlier around the bottom of the lift area.
I'd say so
Warm and cosy in my bed thanks. No snow around Jindy when I drove home an hour ago. Just rain.
Which idiot said that?
If you want powder, just go and ski off piste.
It was a joke, relax
Oh lord I hate to be one of those people but.............Tumbarumba only has the 1 "r" in it. Yep its been precipitating on my high perch near Tumba ( 27mm in the tube since 9pm last night) with the odd bit of "hard" stuff , meaning those pesky ice pellets so it must be cold enough upstairs to not worry too much about the watery stuff that we all dislike up there. Temp here is -1.4c, wind comes in gusts but not with excessive strength. Hard to say exact direction due to topography but at a guess WSW to straight W.
^ Holy moly, is that real?
Straw cam is looking good.
the sat loop for the last hour looks money..
Nice big band heading east to hit NSW. The buller/baw baw special fired rice is in bass straight just making landfall.
everybody is winning tonight
It's cold outside (-2C)
Very little to no moisture is getting over the mountains to Canberra, where ever it end up ?
I won cards nights - 1st time ever
I drunk too much red wine
@Kletterer is right to be nervous
I observe amazing things on the radar!
...I like to watch (think Guinness)...show meeeeeee please.
Just arrived at eucumbene dam. Snowing a touch, with some roadside stuff starting to stick.
First beer is going down a treat.
Lens wipe required on Merritts cam, some white substance being sprayed all over it.
Geez that was quick!
Buller with 21mm in the gauge already, and should do ok when it flips more southerly.
I observe I will be in Buller from tomorrow(Wed) arvo.
The natural snow maker at Merrits Cam is working hard.
No traffic on the way down! Good thing there's no double demerits on the Monaro.....
Meanwhile, the wind blows and the snow falls at eucumbene.
Enjoy tomorrow undies
Wish I was there! Where at Euc?
Merritts is online lens is clear ....groomers are active ...it looks like there has been some good dry snow o/n.I saw snow gun (orange witch hat) deliver a burst too.
Cold and raining in Melb.
Buller has had falls overnight as evidenced on Cam pics currently displayed...picnic tables have a few cms on top!
The fetch is moist!
After this event it looks like we can confirm the Perisher gauge freezes just like Thredbo when below 0. Useless..
Noticed this 2 weeks ago, so annoying.
