Quite warm in Jindy today. Feels like spring. Hopefully this week is followed by next week as currently forecast.
Warm and raining in NW tassie. Probably not worth having the fire going other than to dry things in front of.
NW was blowing hard coming to work this morning. Fiercely down here in Brighton. Mild temps and strong winds have one decent feature - getting washing dry on the line. And that's about it. As nice as the sun was yesterday, running into the teeth of the strong NW was a bitch.
Warm and very windy here in Emerald. Clouds are just starting to come over. I am at Perisher wed and Thurs, hoping the forecast precipitation holds off a bit.
Warm and windy today. Didint take the jacket out of the cupboard. Was hot sleeping last night. Going to be a long few days waiting for the weekend action.
wet and nasty . windy north westerly in LONNIE - temp dropping - word is there is a blizzard on benlomond - hopefully temp continues to drop
BOM Victoria @BOM_Vic 5m5 minutes ago It has reached 23.5°C at Mallacoota, the highest July temperature on record! This is due to a Foehn Wind
Where is the airport in relation to the mountains? Foehn winds are basically the opposite of Adiabatic cooling - air temp warms as the winds blow over the top of mountains and falls down the other side.
Sunny and windy at perisher till about 1.30 when cloud rolled in FAST off the main range bringing misty drizzle. Steadier drizzle now.
Warm in Crookwell tho cooling down and grey clouds. Was planting trees on the farm today and soil temperature unusually cold. On the drive to Goulburn on Sat still large patches of snow sitting around the wind farm.
It went past 24C in Sydney today (and over 25C at the airport). More of the same forecast until Saturday
Airport is heading down towards Omeo, so would make perfect sense. Strong NW blowing up over the mountains, air warming as it heads down the other side of the mountains
11C here at the moment in the upper BM's, that's warmer than it got by a few degrees all last week I think!
The Main Range looks loaded in the right places. Images courtesy of @MainRangeBackcountry FB, they're worth a follow! https://www.facebook.com/MainRangeBackcountry/ "Tour out from Charlotte Pass to Northcote today (15th JULY). Some icerinks out there, but also a lot of soft windblown. Good cover. Snowy River has plenty of snowbridges. Wind was moderate SW in the morning, but dropped to nothing by the afternoon." Although I would expect corn snow for much of this week, I presume.
Perisher has had 21.4mm since 3pm yesterday. Time to turn the hair-dryer off and get out of the shower.
Very mild night in melbourne town again. Min of 12.6 as at this moment. Actually woke up in a sweat, winter doonah is not a requirement.
Was windy and warmish at Thredbo. Rain(more drizzle really)came in about 2ish and stuck around most of the night. Looks overcast at the moment.
Bottom half of Thredbo looking brown and patchy again on cams. Perisher looking similarly miserable. Back to where we were last Monday before the blizzard...
Bizarre-oh weather fluctuations. A rise then a plummet of 8 degrees in Adelaide to come Forecasted to hit 21 on Thursday 13 on Saturday
La Niña was always going to be wet with temps all over the shop. Will be a "fun" roller coaster ride this winter
I have Jane's preseason prediction ringing in my ears of several huge dumps with potentially warm moisture in between!!
Yesterday was ridiculously warm for mid July, today the same. Cooma hit 20 yesterday, didn't quite catch the record it broke but something along the lines of warmest July day in 40 years on ABC weather?
It is just OK. Zalis & Towers were good earlier but heavy wet snow is quickly carved. Front Valley is now the best option!! Incredible loss on slopes away from snow making areas. Creeks are racing along, lots of brush, rocks & dirt around; with sink holes appearing randomly across all resorts. All runs still skiable on wet heavy snow (no surprises there). Eyre has a significant area of gravel, dirt & rocks where yesterday wind blown & groomers were a treat. There are still of alternative heavy tracks but indicative of melt & loss since yesterday. If heavy rain falls with no freeze between now & Friday evening significant losses will occur & runs will close. If rain is followed by a good dump of 40+ all will be epic again.
Just arrived in jindy, feels like its about 20 degrees here! Heading up to Perisher for night skiing.
