for all of 5 minutes. The first front has been a fizzer (a bit like the season), let's hope tomorrow is a little more kind.

not much in the first front at all. there was harldy any precip in adelaide and the cloud band was heading SE when it went through. Next front will bring about 5cm on sunday night. pretty disappointing, but eh [IMG]

Is there anything worth keeping an eye on or should we just pack it up for the season?

monkey would have just told us to pack it away, rather than display a hint of optimism

Cradle mountain looks like it'll get some snow in the next hour.

Nothing will happen tonight, a dusting of snow IF that.

Tomorrow night anywhere between 0-10cms for Buller, 0-5cms for Hotham.

Again like today it could end up being 0 [IMG]

just about everything i've read about these fronts in the last few days has dramatically overstated the amount of moisture in them - it just isn't that wet.

next week isn't even looking that positive anymore either...

However, tommorows front was always predicted as the strongest. I like the positioning of it, just by looking at GFS, LAPS, GASP etc.

To be honest, a few days ago i was scratching my head thinking the same thing..."why is there snow predicted for Saturday"...it really looked on the boarderline with that high. However the scenario tommorow is a bit different...i truly think minimum 5cm to low levels at Buller at least...hoping for 10cm!

GFS SNOW even predicting spots of 15-20cm around South...
(could be a bit over the top though :p )

What about the chances of more moisture predicted developing over the alps due to the lift affect?

B*gger all overnight, just a dusting really, with the strong wind scouring away what fell. The two blocking highs look like joining into one, and they seem to be pushing the moisture away to the south. Again [IMG]

Thredbo is reporting blizzard conditions on there website- cams dont really support it though sure its windy but no real snow. The AWS is reporting .20mm of precipitation so far today the radar is showing no precipitation over the NSW alps if anyone is up there how about some reports please!!.

Cradle is continuing to get dumped on. Bet the tassie folk will be up there tomorrow. Some bands out western vic have some potential - might be a bit hit-and-miss though.

Yeah thredbo blizzard could be a wind-generated 'blizzard'.

I actually saw a pixel of red in the radar off portland. I think i observed something that hasnt been seen in Vic since a thunderstorm last december.

Yeah but they will see a few more mm overnight and in to the early morning. Should clear the west pretty quick but still a few more showers for them.

Probably a bit late in the day but a report on the last week...

Wet snow to Smiggins on Monday PM / Tuesday evening I measured around the reported 25CM over the 2 days. Chaos on the Koszi road down to Jindy Tuesday evening! Wednesday AM the wet snow froze up over tuesday night, wednesday AM not pleasant.

Thursday MT P and Eyre opened up, Eyre was sensational all Thursday and Friday across the bowl and all other runs, nearly killed my legs!

Friday AM, snowguns going on Zali's, was awesome all morning!

So all in all it was a week of broad grins [IMG] and aching legs!

Yes its a nice sound on a tin roof. 8mm at Cerberus is the best i can see from the current rainband. Others west of melb. between 2 and 5mm. The 4 day chart is marginally an upgrade from yesterday with the cooler flow penetrating more strongly.

POW it certainly will be a test of this rain to see if it does indeed break up as it heads for the hills. I fear you are correct.

not breaking up at the moment, intensifying if anything. About to lose the head of the front into the alps, fair bit of moisture around in the air and a coldish front so hopefully the orographic lifting will kick in.
