Nothing showing up here, in fact the sky has almost cleared, stars and moon are shining through, -2C and the snow showers finished a couple of hours ago.

How is Hotham going to fare. Anyone want to give an amateur that can't read weather charts an update?

Check Yarrawonga Radar (and East Sale, if you have access) as well as Melbourne radar. Significant difference in these flows from the SW, as the moisture reflected on the Melbourne picture is often too low to get over the ranges, and therefore doesn't show on the YWG returns, thus giving a more accurate idea of what is to hit the Alps.

Maybe you need to hit "refresh", both the Buller and Falls car park cameras show no falls of any kind.

And it's still clear skies here......

wow. who would have predicted a 30cm 'dump' of snow out of this system, i was hoping 10-15cms at best. now we only need 3 more of these and im a happy camper.

The drive back was crap, there is snow below chalet creek hairpin, its good to see white bridge covered in snow [IMG] decided to come back through yea, big mistake, lots of idiots who cannot drive on the road. damn those range rovers!

lots of showers on the way too, driving back i was being hit every 10 or so minutes by a different one, and they werent all light either, so some good falls to come, up to 10cms for mostly baw baw, LM and buller tonight.

    Sometimes you are surprised [IMG]

Looking more like a 40cm+ dump with 27cm already down and all those showers still to come. [IMG]

i wouldnt call it 'rain' i would call it more frequent showers than anything.

    but its still good. [IMG]

rossi - its a start, but its the end of july, we're not out of the woods until we get another couple like this in the next 2 weeks. and no rain.

Amusingly enough that radar is currently showing a little blob of precipitation sitting around Mt Baw Baw and just a few random speckles in other places.

I'm in bayside Melbs and it has been raining very consistently. Sometimes moderate, sometimes light but hasn't let up much since I got home from work at 6pm. BawBaw should be doing well and hopefully Buller.

Sorry to be rude but you'll thank me for it.

gilby_06 I dont know if you have an eyesight problem or the technology baffles you.

Go to the ski.com.au web cam site.

    * bring up the Falls Creek Carpark web cam.

    * observe the 0900 image - something strange with it?

    * now have a look at the 1300 image - the carpark edge is black yeah

    * look at the current image the formerly black carpak bit are now white with some tyre tracks.

What caused all this? Your guess.

Well its been a good result.

This year has been frightful with forecasting. The models are having real trouble with this stuff. (And they shouldnt be at only 72 hours out!)

Looking at what we had 72 hours ago in weather forecasts and the previous 3 days - it all looked pretty marginal. At that time it looked to be pretty lucky to get 5cm a day each day.

And those who have been writing the season off before about the 3rd week in August should go away into a dark corner and hang their heads.

Still a long way to go and some hope for something serious in the next 10 days.

I have my fingers crossed for the under dog being Baw Baw. Plenty of moisture in the area for them but the temp continues to get warmer. -0.3 atm.

But I'm at Buller on the weekend so let hope it keeps it up for Buller as well.

Buller only reporting 5 cm for 24 hr period .... + 13 cm for 24 Sunday does not equal 27 cm being reported last night on Ch. 7

Baw Baw only reporting 3 cm from 25 mm of precip.

anyway was still a good result for all concerned - top ups throughout the week would be nice.

I really don't think its about proving each other wrong. We all want the same thing. We had some light flurries up here but nothing of note. There still has not been one event this season over the ski fields where a classic cold outbreak has occured. Hopefully later in august will bring this but at the moment, things are not looking great.
