Snowing heavily at the Alpine Village campsite just out of Jindy 1100m but not settling. Snow line appears to be about 1000m and has dropped about 100m in the last hour. Road down from Perisher was carnage. 3 SUVs off the side in quick succession at the top of Wilson's Valley.

Perisher hammering along at better than 2mm per hour. Temp says 0.7 at the base (1700m), yet clearly snow falling beyond Wilsons Valley.

Doesn't have to be below freezing for snow - good news though from NSW perspective so far

Not unexpected - the lifting effect cools things sufficiently to allow it to snow. Especially evident when it's coming from the E /SE for NSW.

    You had one job.

Interesting to see the rainfall figures today, and not see the highest totals on the ranges and to the east of Melbourne. Just an unusual system coming out of the south east.

Southerly now blowing in Melbourne. But it just doesn't feel cold.

Fog at Buller (we cannot remember what the sky looks like). No precip at the moment. The light dusting from this morning has melted off the trees.

Interestingly hasn't rained here in St Kilda Rd for a couple of hours. Still looks threatening though.

We had precipitation that was very light and snow-like this afternoon at Hotham. I've finished up skiing for the day but it looks like the snow is still coming down ever so gently. If it ramps up I will look for a suitable accumulation spot for a pic to share, a la Camelot's mushroom-o-meter.
