Instagram is telling me it's snowing at Falls. Can anyone confirm?
now light snow at dinner plain
Horrible drizzle most of the day at Hotham. It's the sort of day where you find out which bits of your gear are waterproof. Just starting to turn to snow now. Not much though.
Just a bit. There is more ice falling off the trees than there is snow though...
Misty drizLe at buller
Drizzle up the top yet was 8.5 degrees at Harrietville. Would this be a standard or classic temp inversion?
IMO not really an inversion. It was still cold at the top of the mountains.
Just uppers are not cold and there's not much wind / shear so no lifting going on.
R*@n all this afternoon at Buller. 10mm at least. At 2:30, mountain totally empty, lifties hiding in their huts. On piste cover very good and very soft, off piste break-a-leg heavy. If it freezes hard with this next front, off piste and the steeper runs may not be skiable without another 15cm of fresh. Temps remain at or above zero in the village. Observing Mt William not moving much (yet). We are hoping.
BOM reporting 15mm at Buller since 9am
I hear ya snow dog, shocking day at buller today, soaked within an hour, ACL tearing snow off piste. Needs fresh snow.
As always, 24hrs is the difference between pow and piss
So tomo should be sweet?
I observe a front and 10c and 10mm on the SW coast of Vic Atm
I am not holding my breath on tomorrow. Windy with some snow but may just polish the freeze and blow the visibility into the lake
Promising precipitation as front crosses coast IMO a few 10mm squirts in an hour registered
Just started raining lightly in South Yarra, with only a light breeze which feels like it's from the NW. Not the most pleasant conditions for a run!
Waiting for snow at buller
Snow at falls for the past hour or so
Snowing hard at Hotham now, wind is brutal...
Radar looking solid... I'm going to bed
Has NSW avoided this rain? That wasn't part of the script, it was supposed to be cold all week
Good snow at Hotham now.......... www.hotham.co
Heavy rain shower just gone through Glen Iris
Took the dog out for ablutions 15 min ago and was met with puddles and slush falling from the trees. Then 5min ago - temp dropped a little and snow coming down hard and settling on the wood box. Can retire happy.
Sleet rain snow mix on the hike up Stirling tonight. Hoping the wind swings and its worth it. Right now it's just a good bit of cardio. Fingers crossed
Chilly start to the day in SE Queensland and Northern NSW,
2 pairs of underpants required in some districts.
Brisbane 2.8, Coolangatta 2.1, Oakey -5.7, Glen Innes airport -10.3
I observe a lovely white Jindabyne gotta be at least 1mm out there.
Just a perennial for me. In checking for conditions in the NSW snowies, I refer to Weatherzone. Who neatly graph the last 24 hours weather stats (winds, temp, RH etc) for a lot of locations. Look at this total schermozzle for what is supposed to be Thredbo. I have raised it with WZone in the past, response was meh! don't care, the software is at fault.
Four different locations in one report.
10cm falls creek
I was expecting it to be colder... temps still to drop?
Temps are OK. This is Australia, they are going to wobble. While it snows, it is good. The hills about 25km to my west have been getting snow all night, according to stats. Canberra.
Only going to get better, snow wise.. Perisher to our south has been getting steady snow since 2:30am.
hotham + 61cm past 7days
yr.no predicting 30cm next 7 days
I observe me packing to get up there this week
hotham light wind and. Light snow, still feels a little sleety even though it's minis 1.
should be a lie better than yesterday.
squad just skiid of.
Light snow falling in Thredbo village. Conditions yesterday varied from good to excellent. Everywhere on piste, especially Bluff face/bowl, was excellent, off piste was 'good' but a little crusty and generally a bit heavy under the crusty slabs
Lovely fresh snow overnight. No wind down here at Gallows Court (Hotham) but who knows what its like at the top of Heavenly. About to find out soon! Not snowing at the moment and visibility poor.
I observe much goodness on the Cedarwood balcony cam this morning.
Temp just (7 - 7.30am) dropped 2 deg at Aireys Inlet to 5.3
Thats cause it rained thursday night
Much in filing over night (Charlotte Pass). Only worry is that it will be a couple of cm of fresh over breakable crust..... on piste (post grooming) may be the pick today. Yesterday's refrozen chop yesterday was murder, today will be filled in refrozen chop.
I observe that there is some cold weather associated with this front. Look at the Mt. Baw Baw temps since 2.30 this morning.
More than a couple of cm's by lift opening Angus. Should be cover enough for off piste. Big breaky is on the table Angus, get out here
5 deg and quite a heavy hail shower here in Upper Yarra. certainly cold out there
I observe that Richard's Report from 10 July has me salivating...
Central Road Cafe in the village ~1375m, Weds night.
*thud*. Sound of me falling over when I saw this pic. Thus 10th
I observe that I'm packed and ready to go! Cams show limited visibility up there ATM, but it does appear to be snowing ever so lightly.
Done. Snow coming down nicely. Have fun digging you car out down at Bullocks Flat
Update at Charlotte, snowing lightly, cold and windy. If snow keeps up will get better as day progresses.
Light snow at buller winds picking up and temp has dropped
Looks like the experts were right - this quick, follow up front has favored VIC resorts and NSW mostly missing out as it's too S in direction.....
Cold cheerless day in jindy....am hunkered down on lounge
Falls this morning...
Certainly cold, wet & windy on the bike here in Melbourne. Brrrr.
Actually looks like front crossed mountains around 10am - was there 2 fronts with this system or was it just delayed?
