And the BOM Observations show 0 mm since 9 am at 9 pm tonight, despite the very light, fine mizzle & occasional grapple or flurry for much of the last 12 hrs. Temps are cold. Moisture hasn't been there.
In lieu of CC - Stay On Topic and BE NICE. Nice overcast evening in Melbourne town. Tons of people in the city. Not overly cold but enough chill to need a jacket. A very 'meh' night.
Just grabbed some wood in to stoke the fire up in jindy. Windier and warmer than yesterday. Red sky and the radar showing showers incoming from the NW. Perisher might pick up a bit today IMO ( not much more than 5cm)
Wet mizzle @ BC & after 1 hr gear is getting wet. Huge crowds on Accelerator in very average visibility.
Cloudy at thredbo. Light and I mean the lightest of snow/drizzle? 0 degrees. Very weird /. No been on the mountain yet but in my 5 years of season pass have I seen so little natural snow in the village. Crowds? Very strange but it's the so empty. Bakery served straight away. Car space available right in the village. Both overflow car parks empty and spaces available down the main road at 9.15am Weird. Report from the mountain after my coffee n bacon n egg
Light snow down to the dam at Guthega. Fog and mist across Guthega and Blue Cow. No wind of any note. Looking across to the opposite side of Guthega resort towards the trig.
Very fine snow and ice falling most of the way down thredbo. Amazed at the lack of people! Was fun this morning but a lot of bare patches and ice.
Not busy at all compared to usual. Don't forget not as many runs open so people squashed on few runs that open. Yes it is now busy on the lifts at the bottom of supertrail. Speaking to the coffee shop and the said very quiet. No one using the snowgum lift so beating the queue. Conditions not Great, icy, slush, hard, bare. Repeat all the way down. And as not all runs open experts mixing with beginners. And after japan....hmmmm. Regardless enjoying the day. Light snow in village.
hotham light snow showers with the odd moderate snow shower all the way down to village chair load.ski patrol busy collecting bodies.foggy up highbut snow condition is very good.
Ja Ja - lightly snowing at Buller for the last 30mins. LBS bit crowded as well as Shakey - but no too bad for schoolies. Shakey skiing beautifully. Snow guns going off on summit...
Liking the look of what is rolling through Victor Harbor. Should give us a bit overnight (fingers crossed)
Anyone else sus on the Perisher rain gauge? It usually works well in negative temps but I am not sure at the moment. Just a random observation.
Yer, I am surprised it is not ticking over. Steady snow in Perisher all afternoon and continuing. Could do alright out of this and hopefully the incoming over SA delivers.
And a better look at it with a good guide to natural snow fall in the forest behind...however I see this is from the sixth of July!!
Sitting just outside Tumba I observe the wind has freshened from the NW , dark clouds moving through and temp has dropped 2c in an hour..
Further to posts in predictions thread. I observe snowfall starting to settle on the woodwork at 1600m / PV Also observe incoming....
next trough rolling through adelaide now, not terribly inspiring, but enough to force me to walk home from watching grade rugby... hopefully some increased instability on the main range squeezes something out of it tonight /early tomorrow.
calm, mild, beautiful day in Sydney today but feeling the cold once the sun goes. To be honest, winter weather doesn't get much better than this...
Has anyone observed any accumulation today. The cams all show F.A. but I'm sure the resorts will say 5-10.
Cams don't lie. Much..Looks like a few cm. Not much but it all helps and the groomers will maximize every little bit imo
Bout 3 or 4cm at Buller maybe. Skied with the daughter from 3 to 4pm and was r**ning. Temps now down -0,9C on the gauge outside now. Now lightly snowing
When we left PV @ 4 pm snow was starting to settle (a dusting) on roofing iron of Ski Tube & PV Hotel. That was after flurries all afternoon & mizzle all morning. Snow stayed in great shape however due to cold temps but what fell all day would have hardly accumulated 1 cm IMO.
In Porepunkah for a few days. Nice rain in the last hour. Not heavy, but with temps around -1 at Buller i am thinking snow tonight down to 1500 approx. Might get our Buffalo snow play in yet.
