Too pessimistic , as usual , for my taste. You know it doesn't cost anything to be positive about things and ,the power of positive thinking is a wonderful thing to behold.

Yep. Observing perfect snow wind combination in Thredbo atm. Bluff, Cannonball, Central Spur should be filling in nicely.

I observe horizontal snow at Hotham.
up to 10cm of nice dry stuff and more in windblown drifts.
Possibly best ski day of the season.

On the Monaro after a late start it's been mostly sunny the whole way but a fair bit cloud visible over the range from Berridale. And now a very very light drizzle

That's the servo at Thredbo on the left...the biggest dump I've seen in the village must have been 2 feet overnight but big drifts all cars covered 1983 I think

Sitting in Smigs hotel after a few fresh runs through the trees. Managed 5 runs in an hour.

Its blizzarding outside alternating between 5c flakes and small stuff.

Love the view from the Sth Perisher cam. Front valley looks horrendous with the races as well as weekend warriors and school hol crowd + windhold!

Folk on the hill said Perisher scored around 10-15 overnight , but hard to tell as blowing hard , snowed all day , road was a 8-10 k car park and it's last day of hols, messy don't go , some footage of blue cow looked nice early , but it's not linked in yet so train trip .. be interesting to see Spencer's for new depth on Thursday , even as a guide only , seems 60-80 for the week may be reasonable..

Perisher are reporting 2cm overnight and 32cm in the last 7 days and most of that fell on Wednesday. 60-80cm is a tad over enthusiastic. There's another week yet of school holidays too btw.

Looking at the Perisher cams, it sure looks wild n wooly out there. If there were more lifts running, this would be the best time to be out there if you can brave it.

From someone on the hill. It has been snowing constantly at PV at least since we arrived at 8:30am. Hard to tell how much is falling from the sky and how much is just blowing around but both the wind and the snow is filling in areas nicely.

Off the side of Blaxland (Duplex) is now being skied, with the top of vegetation still poking through, which is a good sign for other places.

Don't know about 60-80 for the week, but more should be able to open after this.

...and meanwhile in Sydney the beaches have been superb (if a little lacking in surf); on each of the last few days I have observed first-hand warm clear water around 20C, light winds, and nearly nobody surfing. This from this morning after our regular weekend dawn patrol session:

We arrived in the PV carpark at 6.30am, it was snowing from the rangers station on the way up, although not settling at all down there. It was pretty brutal at Blue Cow for training at 7am, cold foggy windy snowing, hasn't stopped all day.

edit: temps must be right on the edge, but its still snow now :)

No, North Palm Beach looking north from the carpark towards Barrenjoey with the lighthouse itself just out of shot.

Waves were only a bit over a foot today - yesterday and Friday mornings early were both nearly 2' on the sets - but just stunning weather and I am not missing the school holiday bedlam at Perisher one little bit :)

From the verandah I observe the current storm retreating to the main range. Fresh snow on the range looking towards Perisher.
