Do you mean me or loweee?
Bloody hell. LM is obviously a couple of metres too low BOM is predicting snow for the Baws on 4 days down to 1400m, and LM to get nothing but rain The top of LM is 1430m, so maybe? Please?
The problem is the stuff that Baw Baw will get will come from the SE.
I'm not sure that aspect works for LM?
I barely expect any snow in Victoria. ..maybe top of hotham
It's not often that systems come from the SE. I'm not sure how they affect LM. We certainly get it from southerly systems, and LM & BB are pretty close as the crow flies. BB may actually be directly in line of the system to LM and steal our snow.
I'm not convinced there will be much left in Vic when the snow levels fall (assuming they do).
1800m and above with this system.
Problem is..nsw has -26 or so over most of state. ...Vic is -22 @ 500
Been that way all along.
Friday night, Saturday morning will be the best chance for good snow. ONCE the ECL hits the Tasman, wind will be too SE and warm SST's, But could still be okay for wet snot. There is potential anyway, more snow than May at least. Its been much colder in the last few day in Merimbula.
And the sky has got that 45 degree south hue about it. Sunrises have been reddish. Go the P>S> Socceroos.
Best case scenarios at 4am Saturday. Thats a fair bit of snow, and will transform the main range.
In may that low was centre well north of Cape Howe.
If this was for me it was watching the updated forecast maps around 11pm.
Pig's arse it's your snow!
Ok thanks! And yeah it was you. haha.
Remember everyone that a BOM forecast of snow above 1700m does NOT mean snow all day above 1700m...it means 1 flake.
eg today for Thredbo.....Cloudy. Rain, falling as snow above 1800 metres but at 7am Thredbo (1950m) is 1.7C. It will only cool down 1 degree or so today...so basically.....RAIN NOT snow.
Interesting reading the predictions on here over the last few days that this will favour NSW with potential for big falls up high if it all factors coincide at the right time, and then I read this from WZ
Yeah they are on crack IMO
Real problem is that the whole of Australia is a few Mtrs to Low.
Chuck 500m on all resorts and we would be sweet.
1000m and we would be epic.
2000m and we would be top of the class.
3000m and everyone would get sick
or just move the entire continent 500km south
Give the job to the Chinese - I reckon they could do that in 9 months with a budget of <$1B....
I am feeling donza's vibe this could well be a Thredbo SE bomb special..and if it ain't it won't have missed by much.
Yeh dunno about the extra winter darkness though, days are short enough already.
Potential for some good aurora's though.
Stay on topic.
Latest AXS 3 dayer has cold air (5440 thickness) crossing the alps around 10am tomorrow morning. Then as cold air sits over the alps 24 hr rainfall in the band 30-50mm (for 10am saturday through 10am sunday). I like.
Would like if that -25 cold pool was a bit further south IMO (00 UTC GFS)
Sorry CC, was just kill'n time till the arvo models dropped
Well, it's certainly not yours
P.S. BOM now predicting snow showers for LM on Tuesday morning.
So snow tonight. Think I said 5cm. But looking like more. Sometimes I like being wrong.
But too warm tomorrow. Lot's of moisture. IMO. Hopefully a net gain. But I doubt it. IMO.
I think 1 cm is a net gain at this point isn't it?
IMO when it is all going on maps dont mean too much.Perisher from 1700m up in negs big incoming from SE at 4cm an hour.
Is there a sting in the tail of this system ? Will the little front racing across the bight have anything in it for tomorrow arv ? Weatherzone seems to think so
EC has been suggesting that since early last week.
I think Jane and others liked the trailing high aspect of this system a few days back .hopefully they are correct
Good to see Alice springs only 16 degrees tomorrow
Mt hotham at -2.3 and a nice moisture band coming through now.
Predictions only in this thread.
Buller will get 0cm out of this. It's just too warm. The ground will get a good soaking though.
