Just put the empties in the bin. It's cool and grey in jindy.
Seemed to get progressively cooler on my ride this morning.
Cold sea fog came in off port Phillip bay on the way back.
Just had 8mm rain over the last hour in Geelong, is 9.8 deg now, not bad temps for 11:30 here
Snowing quite heavily on Mt Perisher Cam, also at Hotham.
Hotham cams are noice!
Lower hotham cams (eg slalom gully) show snow line quite well
Check the live cam on Mt P - pelting down currently!
top of Thredbo had a nice thin coating of white this morning to around Kareela Hutt.
unfortunately the basin cam has decided to stay on yesterdays image
today is the day we really need that cam to be working
Not on the Thredbo website, looks like flakes falling but not much accumulation since yesterday
I observe a large area of yellow/orange on the Bairnesdale
Radar, hopefully that keeps going on its current course!
Oh sweet, thanks for pointing that out
snowing up @ cloud 9 at falls creek
village temp falling too, 1.1 @ 1.30
Snowing at Peer Gynt bottom of North P T Bar probably 1780m
You have a temperature reading there lowee?
Looks like it is getting deeper and wider.
No Sorry must be around 1C I would think
Thredbo the place to watch with the SE feed.
observe hotham is winning. slightly off topic but when was the last time there was a system like this from the SE / ESE bringing snow.
Interesting. Sat pic still shows movement from north to south over NSW, but radar showing precipitation moving in from the south east.
Been at Perisher since last night staying near the Sundeck and it has done nothing but rain last night and today
There's typically one ESE type system a year IMO.
Going off........ www.nickfletcher.com
Is this low forming further south west than progged?
need to get rid of those spiderwebs Fletch
Temps are starting to come down in NSW. Ridge is showing flakes. Radar looks good for plenty of moisture over the whole south east. 1-2cms per hour is not out of the question tonight. Olympic and Basin will hopefully look a bit more interesting before sunset. Or cooling could stall and deliver 1-2mm /hour in yet another damp squib at 1750m.
I observed mist and r**n at Perisher, on and off all morning.
word from DP is its damp and foggy however top half of hotham is accumulating nicely.
IMO remnants of the low that came through Adelaide yesterday is over southern NSW. This is supposed to spawn a new low in bass straight tonight which reinjects slightly warmer air and moisture that has been streaming in from the north west. So it's likely to get colder in the next few hours as the cold pool wanders across NSW. But should then warm again as that NW air stream starts to wrap back around and hit from the SE.
Sudden temp drop in the hills about 22kms to my west. Effectively the northern end of the Kosci NP. Just now.
Thredbo top station took a similar drop...
observe Perisher have started up the Mt Perisher double they must be optimistic about this system
i reckon it must get some whacky orographic effect from that direction, it often produces lots of snow from system's that look marginal at best
I know. Got the screws out but couldn't untwist the dome
Temps not going the right way in NSW. SE feed is not showing much temp drop so not looking promising. Cold pool appears to have also headed north IMO although some temps drops in western Vic may be good for tomorrow but most of the moisture may be gone. Hopefully the morning will show some positive change.
5c now in jindy and perisher obs suggest snow settling above 1750m IMO. Steady rain here as well.
Pi$$ing down now
Some major radar echoes around Bairnsdale radar, temps marginal... Hoping that some white is making it to the resorts
Edit also wish the Hotham central can, which is nicely lit, would continue to refresh after 5:30.. And DP have better lighting ..
Some big totals in east Gippsland. Nowa Nowa with more than 70mm so far.
chucking down in Perisher some images from FB
Just saw those. If the temps behave we may get a good result in Perisher. Plenty of incoming on radar and 3.6mm in last hour. May push to open FV.
Falls is looking terrible, will get minimal
Snow guns going at perished now?
Can't express how excited I am to see some snow at Perisher.
Was wondering that as well. Temps look good higher up the hill.
Still coming down so the hill should look better tomorrow.
Wouldn't think so wet bulb only just negative. This elephant snot will be much better than the man made at this time of year.
Just quietly, that is a fantastic pic notty
