Observe that Vic resorts are doing shizen housen
Must be time for the offering.
Agreed... but what are the odds now of an "offering"?
Another solid shower here in Sandringham. Yuck but nice day.
Bass Strait is still too warm atm: http://www.baywx.com.au/oceantemps.png
Turning white at Hotham................ Just
IMO this is just more marginal crap for the resorts. Needs to POQ so they can fire up snow making. Should be building base up 1900m+ though.
So Victoria, forgettaboutit!!
Sad at Falls:
that's white fog
According to FB vid, snowing moderately at Selwyn
Getting a bit settling now on the ground, hard pellets coming down on the walk home..
Starting to snow at Perisher. Maybe another 5-10cm of wet snow IMO and then we need another big freeze to get this base going. Hopefully they can also get to fire up the guns but temps currently marginal down low.
Looks heavy at perisher
Front Valley cam looks like it is chucking it down, or is that just me?
still appears to be snowing at falls, nothing worth worrying about tho, next week hopefully
this is a nice cam for checking accumulations too over @ cedarwood appartments
** note image will update
Snowing at perisher
Yeah my god look at front valley cam, Given if often snows at night in Aus, I never understand why more resorts don't cam some of the lit areas?
Perisher obs suggest 5cm so far with potentially another 5-10 cm coming in above 1600m looking at the radar.
Just started raining in jindy.......
As long as the temps stay down - this could go on for a few hours. Base builder at Front Vally and some good rock filler nearly everywhere else. Upcoming freeze looks good enough for a "warm year" to turn this glug into ice.
We might just have the start of a season yet. Next week if it comes off even at half a minty will be enough for the school holidays at Perisher and hopefully elsewhere.
Looking at the radar image, there is a stream of cloud still moving through Victoria and into NSW fields. Just need NSW temps to stay down, though they seem to be trending up atm.
Buller village cam shows a few cents now, nice. Can't remember what season it was maybe 4-5 yrs ago we all watched that rock garden fill up on a southerly blow, and the steps became submerged.....a nice memory!
from Perisher FB
Oh baby!! What that bit of extra height gets ya, looks to be chuckin it down, pimp photo dat.
Buller just easing in to negatives. Great timing to have the Village Cam back up.
Not 100% sure - but looking at various settings on http://earth.nullschool.net/ - temps look ok for tonight. Uppers are all in our favour correct? So as long as there is moisture this could puke for hours?
I observe one steep moisture curve for Perisher .
Though the temps are trending upwards.
Radar still showing sustained feed over Phillip Island blasting perfectly NE along the spine of the dividing range, Buller could go ok if this keeps up, at least ground cooling and playing catch up with big bro resorts north....I observe all the big hills are wicked in their own way but geez, the steep stuff on billets south side with decent snow is real nice, they are so farrrrkin due!
*buller's south side sorry....damn chubby fingers....
Drifting a bit east IMO.
Now snowing at Buller
Awesome, snorkler! Like!
Thredbo reporting 5cm. I expect perisher got 10-15cm
Anyone else think Perisher's snow reporting is a bit lax this year? No date on the report so don't know if it was this mornings report or from yesterday. Looks like about 10cm from the cams
Mountainwatch are saying 13cm for Perisher.
Bom obs say 13mm of precipitation for perisher. Hence that arbitrary figure. I'd say less at the bottom of V8 and more from mid up. Some wind loading too.
not bad .......... http://www.mthotham.co
will take it over clear stuff.
Appears season is off with some minor falls occurring.
Hope fully big freeze will happen to provide base.
Team Bears likes the phrase used by rocket boy"rock-filler".....
Well I suppose this season had to start some how.....
We need blizzards...like 7days straight of dumping action......
When will we get anything blizzard like????
Bears hoping for a bit of snow action.....
this system at least has delivered some cold overnight temps...couple of nights of snowmaking will allow perisher to open up the quad to mid station, happy valley and some of blue cow soon
Another 10cm last nite would have been nice - but BOM has been suggesting we might get that over the coming weekend - ahead of the next front! The upcoming freeze looks pretty solid on yr.no.
Combined with lots of Aussie Leeway Snow - the slopes at PV will be pretty good for this stage of the season later next week. 2011 and 2012 spoilt us with early starts.
I'm starting to feel confident that we might see some nice cold July snow days yet. Might even be some nice tracks starting to form up later next week - getting Mt P open might take another front or a fair bit more snow making.
IMO - there is serious hope for the school holidays at this point.
Strong inversion happening today over Vic. Mt Buller has hit a toasty 10c (highest on record for June is 12.7c), while Yarrawonga hasn't got above 8.4c....
And NSW, been colder in Cooma that in Perisher for most of the day.
Temp inversions continuing with -2.4 bottom oh Perisher and 4.4 at the top. Not great for allot of snowmaking.
Good for friday flat.
according to BOM its currently 0.1C at top of Thredbo, but windchill of -17.4C, with gusts of up to 94kph
Hope you work for Perisher Notty as they have nicked your photo for their website
