Lots of man made there. The covering off piste is rather thin.
There was lots of moisture with temps less than 1 degree. Thought that would have ended up with an accumulation of wet gloop but looks like the only stuff that stuck was for an hour or two last night.
oh for sure
Though it was grass yesterday, the offpiste
car park and roofs look better
I've already done 9 days - so yes it sure is better than 2013 and 2014 start. Weekend looks quite tasty
The background where it's higher has done better. As expected.
Its like the soccer in Canberra during the 2000 Olympics, they just painted it white!
meanwhile at CP
I agree with this comment. Back Perisher looks to have filled up a bit, it will make it easier to get Olympic running in the future. Hopefully assuming the same has occurred in other high rocky areas.
I've been outgrinched. Touche to you sir.
Top half of image is FF yesterday morning, bottom is FF this morning. Definitely a fizzer for the bottom of the mountain. Top of the mountain, seems to have fared much better.

#Snow in the trees at #FallsCreek this morning. Light #Snow falling. @MikeLarkan @MissSnowItAll @janesweather7
Social Media can really send the wrong message.
Pretty picture though, I like the currawong on the roof.
Any type of non rain substance falling.... #dumping on the hill #powder #get here
All the more reason for us to put our own 'realistic' content on high profile SM accounts like skicomau
If anyone has anything they think should get some airtime, ping a social media wonk. Experimental WIP. Might work, might not. Worth a try.
Stay on topic.
I follow for the pretty pictures, take the hastags and captions with a grain of salt.
These forums are the place for realtime observations and realistic conditions.
Obs - Had one shower before in Moorabbin on my lunchbreak before, but zero moisture, didnt happen this system, to much moisture before the cold, oh well thats pretty common in Aus, especially in June. Might have been one of those systems that produced if it was end of July start of August.
'weather' was forecast, with lots of moisture in the system
everyone was worried about the temps
there is snow on the ground
a few degrees colder and the result would have been far different
the naysayers can rightly say nay (this time : )
I observe moar snow falling on Thredbo live cams
More than just 1-2C out this one.
Although indefinite in nature, a few is usually more than two (two often being referred to as "a couple of"), and less than "several". If the sample population is say between 5 and 20, a few would mean three or four, but no more than this. However, if the population sample size were in the millions, "a few" could refer to several hundred items. In other words, few in this context means a very very small percentage but way over the 3 or 4 usually ascribed to it its use with much much smaller numbers. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/few
True, but I think verm's point is really that once you're dealing with 3-4 degrees out, it was never close.
Usually, when we bemoan a near miss snow event it's a discussion about a degree or so (prob vis a vis a global warming perception)
Just saw this, snowed on and off lightly all day but still struggling to stick on the ground in places mand no real accumulation, it looks pretty but.....Big D is only thing open and it's pretty patchy. Snow guns fired up about 5pm with temp around -2.
still plenty of moisture in Jindy and with the freeze and flurries up the hill the next snowfall will stick well.
Pretty chilly tonight - good snowmaking weather.
Weird, just drove in from SYD and had a bit of snow between Cooma and Jindy. Not settling though
Yep just drove through a bit of sleet falling around Bredbo.
It was only 6C in Melbourne before 11pm - so very cold for so early in the night.
Exact same thing for me- especially about 3 mins out of Cooma at around 9:30pm!
1.7C and I'm just about to jump on the bike
I'm going for a run. Chilly.
-9 @ Thredbo top station.
just got home from a ride. Was very cold this morning, will take a while for my tootsies to come back.
Got a few light showers also, one bottom of south road then one again in Elwood just as I was getting home.
Was going to pedal up to Port Melb, but the sky looked like she had a bit more in it and I was cold and wet enough.
Snow guns blaring at FC. Seem to b turning some of the off now
Stealing some man made "freshies" jus off the groomed
Falls Creek care of @Gamera MC.
Pretty bleak off the man made.
top of heavenly - Hotham via Snowcast Australia FB
Snow line seams about 1700 across the Vic majors. Anything below is dirt or man made.
Nice and cold here last night (Hotham), snow guns running from 5pm until midday for some of them. Should be similar tonight. It has sure made a difference to the Big D....
Coldstream -4.5 this am!
Wow... just up the road.
I was 2C at 11:30pm, then a light breeze kicked in and push it to around 5C and it never got down again.
1C on the bike when I headed out.
Reckon it was a fair bit colder in places as well.
Not surprised. -5.4 in Narby. Very heavy frost. Now, if only it had been precipitating at those temps!
I observe an over precipitation of the word precipitation ...
I know! I live around there. The birds weren't drinking from the birdbath today, so much as ice skating on it!
And the farm dogs couldn't get a drink.
Even some of the local people couldn't shower until about midday.
