A weak system is passing through Adelaide and SW Victoria.

#Shepparton (8.0), #Yarrawonga (7.7) and #Kilmore (4.6) also recorded their coldest June maxima on record today.
Band of showers moving over Melbourne and we should see a few snow showers at Lake Mountain & Baw Baw.
Just started snowing now. I'm at 950 metres outside Lithgow.
Snowing heavily and settling at Mt Victoria NSW. I'm meant to be driving down to the snow to work today, not getting snowed in at home!
Roads closed around Oberon.
Reports of snow too in Orange, Walcha. Seems widespread above 900m in NSW CTs.
Wifey reports snowing heavily and settling at Dargan this morning.
She drove back to Mt Vic in constant heavy snow.
A bit overcast here in Thredbo.
cold & dribbley rain in Sydney this morning
I observe Normo's post of blue skies at Perisher Vailey.
Settling nicely above 1100 metres on the western side of Lithgow with 1-2cms on top of what was left over in the shade from Friday night.
Certainly seems colder than forecast. 840 hPa temps are negative and 500 hPa -26C, it's pretty good.
Reports of snow (via friends fb) at Blackheath
Friday's event was the exact same date as Snowmageddon of 2013 2014. Snowmaggedon being our 2nd biggest single day of traffic in the history of ski and biggest day of the last decade.
Friday was about 60% of snowmaggedon's traffic.
I observe that it's farkin cold in Sydney today.
My weather app currently tells me that it's 8.7 degrees, feels like 5.3
Snowmaggedon was 2014, wasn't it? Still, interesting data - I reckon the 'snowmaggedon' tag inspired a lot of that traffic!
Friday's event was about 60% of Snowmaggedon too, although we had a lot of low level snow which made it interesting.
What was the no. 1 traffic day?
yep- sorry my mistake - yes 2014 - chart remains the same
2000 (can't remember the date)
Nothing compares. 150,000 visitor sessions by lunchtime, almost double Snowmaggedon. Server nearly melted (was on a Sun Sparc back in the day.) had to turn off the forums and the ad-serving and set the cache on the images to 1 hour (instead of ten minutes) just to keep the site running.
Wont ever happen again. We had all the cams and reports, resorts still did not invest in online so mostly had crappy websites. No social media.
Was it the May 2000 dump?
I see 1.6mm in the Perisher guage for what it's worth.
Possibly, it was definitely early and would have been the first significant fall. I remember that the Olympics killed spring and almost no-one was looking at all by Sep - even though it was the best spring skiing since 1992 and probably no better spring since.
My boy just rang from Sydney , Qantas cancelling flight to Armadale due to snow. Its all happening in NSW today
Peak depth was early-mid September. I was there thanks to early school holidays (moved earlier to coincide with the Olympics). Dad and I lapped the skiers-right side of Thredbo for the two days after that 20cm fall that lead to the peak depth with barely a soul around.
A combination of dust, rain and heat has killed off nearly every season since more quickly
Certainly cold in Melbourne. Hasn't reached double figures and light rain.
Have been reading of snow fall early today around Lithgow
Its f**king freezing today.
Are you saying you require more hype and a ridiculous 'extreme' name for the next 'big' system?
I went swimming this morning and still haven't recovered...and it was a heated pool!
11 in Sydney's northwest atm.

Very bleak lunchtime conditions in #Sydney and surrounds. Temperature in the CBD only 10°C.
It's a pretty close run thing atm. Sydney on 11.2, Melbourne on 10.3.
Grey, drizzly arvo here in Brighton. have had cold feet all day. office just won't warm up and I haven't bothered to take my jacket off.
I observe that even after -6 temperatures at Perisher on the weekend, it still feels cold in Sydney.
Friend reported snow at Mt Vic, in the Blue Mountains, but that's old news now.
I observe our office is the same and I may have resorted to putting a long sleeved ice breaker on under the shirt....and jacket
My feet are numb. Suspect it may have something to do with standing on concrete all day.
If you think you are cold today spare a thought to these guys.
After the storm...De-icing summit quad chairlift at Hotham.
(pic shared from facebook friend)
First chair up is going to be a bit chilly on the rear
Spring Main Range - epic!
Cams suggest it might be snowing further up at Hotham? Looks that way on some of the Hotham Heights cams anyway.
Clear skies and guns blazing since 4pm in Thredbo
Max temp at Mt Victoria BM's today 2C
Wifey reporting snowing again at Dargan, upper BM's
Even my home lands received some white joy. Mt Kaputar, NSW
Just in time for peak hour traffic commuters.
Big band of heavy stuff about to hit Syd metro area... Although it looks like it will run dry and possibly miss the BM's. Could be 5-10cms in it otherwise as the temps are holding strong for ~1000m.
FYI - Coldest day in 20 years for Sydney. 11.7C was the max, it sure felt it too...
Yeah heard that on the news. Also Bathurst had their coldest day in 14 years. I'm sure there were a few other records broken over the weekend and today. Interesting after we've had the warmest Autumn on record...
Pretty damn cold on bogong right now. Little sprinkling of snow presently. Good day until the cloud came and wind cranked up.
Love that first shot with the roo!
I observe a dusting on Apira Lodge cam, Buller @9:25 pm
