I got fresh tracks last weekend I got fresh tracks last weekend it's ok it's ok Last night was the coldest June night in Sydney in 6 years apparently. 5.4 in the city and a solid frost out at Richmond with -1.4
I confirm it was early for a guinness, however i observed and slid on the best quality snow in perisher i have seen since season 04 yet another olympic season yet i remember it ti be a cloud seeding success by all accounts imo
2004 was a terrific snow year everywhere - even where there was no cloud seeding. IMO cloud seeding is of very dubious value.
you're awesome claude!! Back to lurking and liking haha !love all your members posts, good detailed reports, much appreciated
Awesome cover top up today at Buller. Although light rain most of the day knocking it a bit! What's the story with "post frontal R**N"??
I observe gotta be <-2C for snow at Buller on the W or WSW. Might have more of the same tom and Sunday.
For Buller to get snow from a westerly the 'hills' to the west of Buller need to be getting snow to counteract the rise up the western flank of Buller. If it's not snowing at Sawmill and other little bumps/hills to the west, Buller is always going to struggle to get snow out of a westerly.
Would wonder with hundreds there how they could lie. They have in the past been caught out but Tomorrow 45/47 lifts and 85cm on the deck. We had independent reports of 20-30 at 1900 and I would accept that. 14.4 fell in the Perisher BOM gauge and after another drop next week Thursday will be well over 100. Going to be a good year, no doubt. We will see Kiwis here?
good morning from windy, foggy, misty hotham. no snowmaking overnight. temps are marginal so not too hopeful for snow today.
exact elevation as Thredbo village.didn't realise it was that higher elevation out there isn't mentioned on my touring guide to Australia 1984 ha ha
No porkies re: falls & cover IMO. Great early season wind blown stashes between Eyre & Mt P Double today & off Accellerator yesterday. With all resorts interconnected PB has capitalised on the recent falls to offer incredible choice for so early in the season. Sure there's thin cover in places, and rock dodging on Eyre & off piste but the stashes that are still to be found are a treat. Overall the cover is great.
Snow is in good nick at Thredbo today. Bit if a breeze from the sw again but still a lovely day. Happy voting everyone.
Perhaps Bourke St was, but elsewhere was ghost town. Waited for a few mins at Wombat chair once, but apart from that we walked onto every chair, all day. Fantastic. Mist/drizzle/light rain/fog all morning, but after lunch it dried up, cleared quite a lot, and it was a throughly enjoyable afternoon.
Agreed. Had a nice couple of hours this arvo with Jr finding some decent windblown. Washed down by a pit stop at Kareela!
Didn't ski it but lots of tracks across off piste face to Nth P T. Groomed run looked OK with the occasional thin patch but many going down. Link to Pleasant V was good . Pleasant V was patchy in places but loads of tracks everywhere. Upper Roller Coaster was great. Parts of Guthega good - others patchy. Copperhead Rd patchy in places & challenging for beginners but fine for most. Some good stashes off Olympic but by tomorrow arvo most well known off piste will have been carved. All up no queues for me all day, some great skiing on & off piste & thumbs up to the groomers for getting so many access tracks & runs up & running.
groomers took their time preparing access tracks. i observed the same snow was on the ground earlier in the week.
