The weather in Melbourne ATM is pretty much the sort that would precede the end of the world.
A dreary day in the Dandenongs. Sitting around 7c near Emerald. Felt warmer up at Perisher. Was like spring there this weekend.
Pity the Blob on the radar out west didn't hit the alps.
Baw Baw cams show snow is falling.
Starting to chuck down on the FF cam at Thredbo.
Minor flood warning up for the Werribee river.
Snotting it down at Baw Baw.
Thredbo live cams freaking me out a bit, not used to seeing it blow in from this direction!
This band of rain is coming straight up over us and into Baw Baw, it’s heavy rain with those large drops which would result in rapid accumulation imo
It’s currently 6.8c here in the strezleckis and bugger all wind to move this thing away! It’s just going to lay over the mountains and dump IMO
I observe its currently dumping on LBS.
And also that the Village Square cam seems to have died...
Been a long time since the werribee river has had a flood warning !
Not much rain since 8 am in Melbourne's north but bitterly cold.
Phat flake at smiggins
I observe a kick arse bit of snow bus gear on the Gutheries cam.
We had 40mm overnight in Torquay based on the rain gauge I emptied. Aireys showing 22mm so looks like we copped a heap more just down the road from them.
Dumping at Baw Baw too.
Reporting 10cm now.
I observe I hate seeing VIC resorts get more snow than NSW a) because I mostly ski NSW and b) because I just hate seeing VIC getting one up on us in any respect. I further observe that this system was always going to be one of those annoying hit n miss scenarios with the lack of strong orographic action
I am happy to observe that Vic little resorts - Baw Baw , Lake Mountain and Dinner Plain are all doing very well today.
The little resorts that could.
Baw Baw getting smacked
Yep it really is.
Their insta story is off the hook!
Storm just rolled through Syd NB's
I observe that the Cedarwood table is the cleanest I've ever seen it - ready for the next dump?
Soft hail and thunder on Sydney northern beaches
And I observe that little resorts getting snow makes me happy. Baw baw action is off the charts.
Dinner Plain a resort? Isn't it too steep for the average family of skiers?
Whatever it is, it’s ****ing getting it!
bit a snow
Imagine all of this was getting to the mountains in the right places, Trentham is up to 58mm from this storm and 56mm since midnight. The current rain rate is 2.5 an hour
Thredbo getting the love on the live cams at the moment
Looking decidedly wet in NSW. Flakes, but lots of moisture with them. Wear your ponchos, people.
Cedarwood not updating unless you go to their website
Coming down nicely on Blue Cow cam.
puking clear snow in Essendon...
And just as quickly as it started it's now stop on Thredbo's cams
Steady rain Melb CBD.
Nice little band crossing the East Gippsland coast for the major Vic resorts.
Real winters day in Sydney town. Grey, cool and a few drops of rain.
Rotation on the Canberra Radar.
Not much going on at Thredbo now, and the bottom slopes looking pretty patchy. Definitely a Vicco special.
while warm and sunny in wollongong
been in shorts and tee all day
Yeah the cold pool is west of the alps..
while the inflow hasn't really started for nsw
Funny that... Sounding very similar to the 8-10th May event.
My parents weather station near trentham is about to click over 100mm since this event started. Ours is about to hit 60mm. Been no stop since 4am this morning. The winter creek is a flowing once again.
Graupel coming down in Katoomba now.
Looks like the northern extent of the cold pool is sitting just west of Dubbo. 6-7 degrees at Parkes. Still about 9 here.
Looking at the sat pic moisture will probably start reaching NSW alps in a couple of hours out of the SE.
Ahh so there is two cold pools.
One which is now wandering west of the alps.
A second , that will get slung up the east coast of tassie towards NSW alps tonight...
