Coogee Surf Club
Sorry CC. Goes with the previous post. But as it's on a new page I'll update it.
Coogee Surf Club. I was there yesterday. Though wall was still intact when I was there. But was cracked and leaking.
Yeah, some on the fox a while back.
Looks like Coogee Surf Club got absolutely smashed by the King Tide and 8 metre waves last night.
I'm hearing that the boatshed with all the rubber duckies and surfboats has also been decimated. It was located much lower further down on the beach.
My rowing crew will be devastated.
Mate of mine lives in north narra in the low lying area on the western side north of the bridge. You can have home insurance including flood but the line item for flood should you tick it was listed at $12k per annum.........
Satellite picture and radar showing a weak low rotating through west and central Victoria and heading NE. Might be enough to bring a little moisture to the alps.
BOM have cancelled Severe Weather Warning for East Gippsland at least not long ago......
Any updates? You haven't had to break out the surfboard yet have you?
those temps right across state seem to be just in double figs....so appears to be a cold arvo all over the place...
Meanwhile in Canberra...
Lake George had some water in it
But now it's mostly gone
@Undies - how did the lagoon fair in the end? Not hearing any news of flooding in Queenscliff despite it all. I would have expected some?
Starting to see a small amount of moisture coming in from the west, sth west. Maybe a couple of cm tonight.
The Mountain ducks look happy
Yeah, was quite flooded at the beach end, with waves rolling up under the bridge and water close to the playground.
The Pittwater Rd end was starting to fill up last I saw of it, and that was before high tide so I'd expect some inundation there. Those houses that back onto the golf course part of the lagoon are on borrowed time. Quite a few of those backyards would have been under.
You out of town?!
Yup, in Italy. Not too much would happen to our place I expect, carpark is biggest risk. We had a blocked drain flood our place a while back so as long as upstairs cleans their outside area it's all good. Haven't heard from the house sitter yet.
Damage at fairy bower end is epic!
Hotham and DP reporting snow..
Hotham alpine resort just posted this
Bit settling on the ground on the big d cams .. finger crossed this keeps up
At least they don't need to venture outside for a surf
Tathra surf club
Looks like Perisher with a pine tree
Many people being rescued from the ocean in the east. One jumped off the cliff in Bondi. Unbelievable
See the rain has also hit hard in Tasmania . Dunno if this has been mentioned, but two elderly folk are reported missing there
Heavy rains expected to hit SA on Wednesday
Saw a video of same time I guess, at Snowcast on fb. Nice flakes drifting about - always a fine sight to see.
All good at my place thanks Yardsale. It was an eye opening drive back from work this evening after the high tide at lunchtime dumped yatchs and trees on beaches etc. Still two elderly folk missing and half of my local town is very badly flooded (Latrobe Tasmania). There's some sad pictures on facebook of livestock being washed away. Seriously devastating floods and it ain't over yet......
of all of the BOM statons, it seems that Coolangatta recorded the most rainfall.
Over Friday night and Saturday they accumulated around 360mm
Yes...it was epic
The gauge is starting to register again at Perisher in last half hour at sub zero. Should be snowing. Anyone up there?
Robertson (Callong st)24 hours 365 mm according to BoM
Andrew Miskelly @andrewmiskelly 2h2 hours ago
Provisional weekend (72 hour) rainfall totals resulting from the #EastCoastLow.
Holy carp, is that 618mm on the escarpment above Wobblygong? Dayamn.
that's wet... my guess is some of the waterfalls would've probably been a fair spectacle
Can anyone confirm if it is snowing anywhere at the mo? Dear God, anyone? Anywhere?
Perisher has just posted that snow has started to fall at the resort.
Apparently they've had a dusting recently! Seen a pic on IG from about 5 minutes ago!
Yep - Robertson got 600+ over 48 hours. That earlier prediction chart from CC was spot on.
Old faithful South Perisher Cams are not working. Bugger! Presume the wild weather had something to do with it!
Those waterfront properties seem to now have a lot more water than front.
we only get 500mm in Perth in an average year
The second pic is clearly photoshoped
I almost lost me puppy in the froth at Tathra, no air . he almost died. Had to do like an avalanche rescue to find him. He could hardly breath in the froth. Wigged me out all day.
The folks in Collaroy will be relieved to hear that. And the bloke fishing from his Narrabeen balcony? Mirage?
lucky puppy. You could have surfed the swell on the bega river last night the car park at the heritage center had small waves going thru it
Rain gauge at Robertson reporting 600mm for last 7 days. I assume most of that is since Friday night. Sunday total was 350mm odd. Turramurra also reporting 365mm in the gauge for the event.
Lucky it didnt rain more last night.
I observe that I am more excited by the 1mm in the Perisher gauge than the 350mm in the Robertson one.
EDIT: Make that 1.2mm !
Seriously, having spent a lot of my child hood years on the northern beaches (MIND YOU THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO), this has been a repetitive issue for at least 3 decades. No surprise that these properties have been at risk. Aint nothing gonna save you from mother nature. Would have got out of there years ago. Not to say that I dont feel for those folk but writing has been on the wall for a long time.
