I observe it is the 'dry sunny' side of Buller. If it's white on the N /NW face then Buller is good or better!

The pipes have played Aussie tunes for the start of an Aussie season, on Front Valley. Satisfied with the sacrifice of crowds having fun on opening weekend no matter what, the Snow Gods will deliver.

I observed, great weather, big crowds and, personally observed and partook in great skiing at Perisher.

This site predicted the weather. Peeps knew exactly what to expect, where to go, and got amongst it.

SkiDotCom and QB Weekend skiing, delivered big time. Leave it exactly the way it is.

Only a Sun Peaks regular could/would call that 'great skiing'. Now just need to talk it up at the surf club. Did ya get the fact most locals disappear on opening weekend for a reason?

Astro I swear the magnetic flux has got to you overtime...

Enough snow for sightseeing and fir kids to play....would be the summary...hardly worth the expense to head out there.....this is nuisance snow.....

Sorry guys. I'm not disrespecting weather threads to get personal. Stay on topic.

Nice sunny morning in Sydney, but some storms came in off the coast just now. Was working on the boat. Just had time to throw the covers on to keep the boat dry. But I'm still toweling off. LOL

No need. This weekend has always been marginal and many years like this one lack any snow at all. Snow making and resort marketing saves the long weekend along with diehards who find any type skiing pleasurable. If you have limited time and budget I would not ski in June at all. Save up and get more bang for buck in July onwards when the weather is kinder.

I have to agree. I only went up this morning for a few hours though. Its all a question of perspective really , if you have the attitude that skiing is better than not skiing ( which is the correct attitude worldwide) then you will always enjoy yourself no matter what. Did I enjoy myself for a few hours today ? Most assuredly I did because skiing is better than not skiing any day , any time, anywhere.

I don't recall a time in the last 8 or so years when I haven't skied the long weekend, generally at Perisher, although about 5/6 years ago Thredbo do get Merrits open for the LWE. As @Astro66 and @Kelpieboy suggest skiing is better than not skiing.

Stay on topic but yes there are some purist legends on this forum that don't ( or say they don't ;) get out of bed till funnelweb , Federation and Hogg's back are top to bottom with 2 metres of pow...
My only conclusion is they hardly ski at all or just stay true to their convictions and do an upmarket snow plow in US and Japan intermediate slopes every 5 years .
