Looks like just a bit of liquid snow overnight at Perisher as the warm stream moved in. Currently sitting at 1.6 deg with the sun trying to poke through. I'm hoping for minimum moisture today.
Was looking at the satelite earlier. Posted in the predictions thread about that NW stream giving me grief. Will be interested in the non IR image of that low, because it's not looking that formidable in the IR image.
even though it's not our most favourable looking set up, that is one beautiful looking satellite image. really shows the warm air being sucked down into the front of the low. man i love weather
****ing cold and raining in mildura today. normally 16 and rain here means its snow when it gets down to the mountains. Hasn't budged over 10 and been raining steadily
This has to indicate some good potential at least? To feel cold in a NW feed would suggest some optimism?
So here she is in the sun. <The Low> You can clearly see the NW feed that CC is talking about. And in my limited interpretation. The southly air being drawn in, doesn't look too bad.
Definitely feels wintery outside in Melbourne. Commute home won't be too bad if it swings a bit more to the west.
Well ..... I don't enjoy posting this but this site is about the truth. Perisher at plus 2.4 deg and moisture in the gauge. Snow loss is quite apparent. Now. Yesterday
It's funny. Go outside and you swear it's snow weather. That chart though is the reality of the situation.
I just came back from a walk at lunch in Canberra the weather says 11c. but it feels like its about 8c or less, the temp definitely felt like it dropped a couple of degrees
The soundings never lie. The more I look at that chart the worse I feel. It's borderline feral. 0C at 700hpa, bro pls. And the positive buoyancy transition is so far from coming into play it's ridiculous, that's a very stable atmosphere. Pretty much everything we dont want.
Yeah didn't social media (Snow) go ape over this event. 9ft of show closed one of the main cross border highways.
the snow cams at Charlottes Pass are telling the sad story.......major loss of fallen snow..... only rained a little bit so far in Sunbury...cold but not too chilling outside...
Me too Chowds, the G to Essendon. I feel burning in my quads....good season prep tho. Hold me up after funnel web laps at Boville....
Unlike!! As Astro pointed out is seems like the colder air getting sucked in but still a few hours away from them thar hills
ah ok, im not very good at those funky charts and models, but the leading edge of that low looks alright to me off the sat
So much weather!! Beats blocking highs and boredom IMO The East Indian Ocean bubble bath gunna make this winter real interesting, just need the timings to line up here and there for some serious dumps. Stating the obvious I guess, but loving the climatic changes after El Nino angst for all....
