Unfortunately that's all she's wrote in terms of cold air, moisture combo. Our next chance of some light falls will be Saturday AM 7-10am ish @1700m. Only see a couple of CM at best for that.

Still snowing at perisher. Heavy enough to be seen easily on the cams.

Still far to warm in Victorian resorts.

By the time the cold air arrives (not far now) there will only be minimal moisture left in it.

Argh yes but at 1.6C and ~3mm/hr (1730m) I am thinking it's marginally snow... This was never going to deliver much to the resorts, proper IMO.

IMO I am suggesting this IS the 'cold' air for this system.

Some nasty weather at Buller and Hotham today.
+ve temps overnight and all day, r**n (Buller 17, Hotham 13), and strong NNW winds (102kmh at Buller, 117 at Hotham overnight), and consistently strong winds all day. Ugly stuff.

Its still a warmish NW wind for Vic resorts. The cooler SW should arrive in the next 2 hours and drop the temps. Not sure if there would be any juice left by then.

Some great totals at Perisher last 24hrs. Nearly 80mm. Shame about the temps.

Well this one went pretty much the way the models, and the observations thought it would.

Sorry, but we're looking at westerly for the next 24-36 hours (WSW at best). As far as Aus resorts go (inclusive of Vic), SW is not due until Saturday AM.

No where near anyone at 1900m at the moment! Thanks for the update. Certainly possible with Perisher AWS registering 1.7c @ 1738m and drops in the tank.

With Thredbo top at 0.4 at this time being 11:11pm Thursday with precipitation registering, and freezing level lowering during the night / day...perhaps some wet stuff to fill some holes and some freeze with an add on for Saturday. Help the main range ice cap...

What a difference a bit of altitude makes. It looks cold and snowy on Perisher Olympic cam, and not bad for Mt Perisher and Blue Cow, but basically sad and wet on Vic cams. The good news is the season hasn't started yet and it should get colder, and the BOM is forecasting snow and colder weather today and tomorrow.:)

If there's a groomer on it there's at least 30cms or thereabouts.

At least they're trying to make something for the people. It ain't their fault Mother Nature isn't helping. Must be tough for them but credit for doing everything they can.

Sitting out in the sun as i type. Quite warm actually. I'm comfortable in singlet/shorts and the NW winds have certainly died down for now. Perfect winters day. For Sydney anyway... wouldn't want to feel like this in the alps.

Was just looking at that.. Would that increase suggest 1800mt snow line based on current temps? Hopefully by the time it gets to places of interest the day will be a bit cooler and a bit lower?
I observe nice speckled cloud in the Bight.
