I don't think the colder s/w wind has reached Mt. William yet. Not far away though.
Fairly normal to see a rise just before change. Up to 4.6
Update: Suns now gone behind a cloud and my smugness has worn off. I'm cold and need a jacket.
Could be $100 million equipment. Still no good if it ain't cold enough.
As I said at least they're trying.
Its cold enough at the resorts ATM snow this arvo for Vic
Perishers snowmaking is awesome dont get me wrong by Sunday people will be skiing on front valley
Temps really starting to drop at Perisher. Down to 0.4 degs.
Radar showing decent band of moisture. Shouldn't be to far from VIC ski fields.
Still climbing at Mt William. 5.2C
Mt Baw Baw going to get a burst of snow or rain nice band coming through Melbourne IMO
Mt William 5.5.
Probably too warm at Baw Baw at +0.5
With those temps frontal cloud band will be rain except up high (1900m+) IMO. Then a bit of snow tomorrow but not a whole lot. Cold air hanging around the resorts and inland today is just near surface hang over from the last brush.
all snow cams telling story of "no snow"......
Nothing was going to happen until tonight.
Did Olympic get a dusting today?
Yeah the cold air is hours away and lacks moisture IMO Good for snowmaking after a 5 -10cm
Should start soon...............
GFS has 540 line nice and high tomorrow and the moisture is there - wont be much but it will be something!
The PR gurus will be on it in minutes all over social media the moment they see a flake.
Rain's just hit here in inner east Melb.
Raced the rain home on the bike. Beat most of it by about 30s!
Just started raining here (near Moe). 12 degrees outside.
Nearly finished in Hallam. 11c outside, 22 inside.
Perisher. Down to - 0.7 degs.
drove through hotham at 6pm.
very foggy and drizzly on climb up.
hit 0c at 1700m and -0.5 at top.
sleat trying very hard to settle.
0 at dp and drizzle.
No precipitation though
I expect the temps to go up in Perisher - they have for all the Vic alps.
Mt William on the way down since 6pm though, now down to 3.2
Cough, cough, observation thread.
Temps are slightly rising at Perisher
Agree slight increase. But will go down before morning. IMO.
Yes prediction I know.
Good call mr cat.
DP temps have gone up from 0 to 1.5 over last 3 hrs.
(inside temp up from 5 to 15...roaring fire)
Flakes at South Perisher.
Light flakes about last 2 hours at Hotham have settled leaving a light dusty cover
Yay for a snow observation.. I observe
I observe movement in the Perisher gauge.
I observed it was very cold in Canberra when I met Snowfi and her family to transact some race skis. left two very happy looking daughters walking away with very fast fischers.
Now down in Jindy, not much colder, but expecting some action tonight.
........................its a very small dble bed
Not sure how much it snowed last night but obs and radar suggest the Real Deal is marching towards the Alps.. Some yellow and red in the showers.. Not far from Melb now...
what real deal ?It gets to the vic coast and then dies . Whats with That?
Looks like a light dusting overnight in Thredbo, but the clouds are defiantly closing in.
Looks to be fizzing to me.
Them defiant clouds! Road reports tells me snow and ice on the road from Sawpit Creek.
Oh.. I thought these showers were pushing up towards the Alps to deliver the goods.. Bummer
Barely. Maybe another little dusting this afternoon....
Trying really hard now, I can't work out if it is wet slop or snow flurries.
Sunny on Perisher FV, second wave of moisture blasting thru central & eastern Vic now, resorts should see some of this soon. Buller SW special IMO, looks to be lightly snowing there going by the cams. My man at P says its pretty freakin chilly this morning, no guns though I see.
I still like what I see, pushing up on radar. 15cm Vic today (predict sorry)
(No expert though and stilghy confused)
Just starting in Baw Baw now big flakes on the cam
Looks like another band coming through. But last nights band was quite the fizzer with only 4mm in the gauge at Perisher. Though VIC's may do better.
This afternoon looks the best chance.
