Yeah. Raining heavily here in the Latrobe Valley. Baw Baw should get something out of this. It looks on the radar that the moisture is pushing through. Hopefully something for the major resorts as well.

Raining heavily here (Gordon near Ballarat) Maybe 5-10 cm for Vic. Just clip resorts IMO

I observe that its not snow weather at Tumbarumba. Warmest morning for over a week with bright sunshine , zero wind and 8c. Cant see much happening in NSW today , lucky to even get a dusting. Nor can I see anything for the next week at this stage.

Bairnsdale radar looks the goods over the next 2-3 hours for the alps (right on cue again). Buller/Baw Baw might do ok out of this band. Actually looks like it's coming down hard at BB.

Drove through heavy rain right up the Hume this morning. Turned right - got to Mansfield at midday - it was sunny! Up the hill into wet mizzle at 2pm 0c MT Buller. Decent snow shower for 45min at about 2pm. 1cm at most. Nothing since but has turned cold. Hope something else can push through.

[IMG] Looks like Indian ocean and the Bight are heading back towards average sea surface temps. Not sure how that will effect snow falls. I will leave that to the Gurus.

It's largely the warming in the pacific (+'ive anomolies in central/equatorial regions of the Pacific) that leads to El Nino - in general terms that means climatic reduction in rainfall for Eastern Aus.
In the eyes of us snow-heads we would prefer a positive anomaly for Southern/Indian ocean as it promotes convection (increased precip in the nodes), but not specifically over vast areas as it can also promote heating of our snow bearing systems.
