Hair dryer has been engaged. Although is it a hair dryer when it's so moist? Sauna fan, perhaps?

    Stay on topic.....

Moonbah at Sunrise. Mild temps and no wind.

Perisher as the change came through. Started out calm and with very mild temps then the wind picked up, cloud started to lower, chairs were slowed down... time to head home at 10:30.

Some decent r**n through Victoria's west overnight and since 9am this morning. I'm sure it's been welcomed over there.

I observe that it is shorts and t-shirt weather in Bairnsdale. Sun is out and mountains are stopping any rain from reaching us. Currently 21.6C.

Wholey jumpin. That's crazy warm. Here at Island Bend, just down from Guthega it is blowing like crazy with gusts right up there with some of the worst I've experienced. I'm getting nervous about the juvenile snowgum upwind of my vehicle, which is upwind of the van to help deflect the extremes of the gusts. Too bloody warm too - 11.3c.

Love stopping at Bairnsdale to enjoy the balmy weather after being up the mountains. Lunch at the exchange house is always good.

To be honest, days in the low 20s isn't uncommon for Bairnsdale region during June/July. If I recall 2014 or 2015 we sat out on the deck drinking wine at lunch in t-shirts on many occasions.
Right now, the wind has picked up big time. Still very warm.

Yikes, hope NSW isn’t hit as bad as Vic.

Baw Baw mostly mud. Bom latest weather obs says they have only had 6.3mm. We have had over 16mm now today near Emerald.

Not suprised. Going crazy here. Just went thru a very concerning 70 degree change in wind direction with high intensity. Unusual. Now getting bits of bark smashing into van. Fire & Rescue team practising their driving skills and testing the truck capabilities on the trails - might be fortuitous timing for somebody if this keeps up!

Rain looks to be on the way out for Melbourne. The Macedon forcefield did it's job of "protecting" Melbourne, we got barely anything in the city. Some locations did well in the Metro area - Geelong 14mm, Cerberus just over 20mm. The Mallee, Wimmera and south west all appear to have done well - most locations around the 15-25'ish range.

So far for June Melbs has had every day bar 3 above average in terms of day time temps. Nights have all been above average except for 1. Here's hoping for a cooler end to June...

Yarrawonga 256k BOM radar shows rainfall intensity decreasing. Maybe Perisher & Thredbo be lucky to miss the heavier rain?

I wish some of that would come Canberra’s way! We’ve only had a few millimetres out of this system to date and the forecast isn’t looking promising for rainfall. The nation’s capital is prepared to sacrifice itself for the snow resorts!

Duration of this warm spell is what has done the damage. Hasn't really been a freeze since last friday night. Then add 3 days of warm wind and a bit of rain. Even though the groomers are done there is still lots of snow filling all those upper gullies that will make the next fall go furrther.

I observe that the reported lack of grooming and packing of fresh snow at Baw Baw has done the mountain and various runs no favours in the lead up to this huge wet.

Perhaps in the end not even several MCGs worth of tarps would have saved Bawb's good opening cover?
