Took Arthur (10) on his first (short) BC day trip - the initial part of Heathy Spur. Some old Fritschi Diamirs mounted on an old set of kids' skis, and my old narrow skins folded on over the back of the ski and tied down with Voile straps. He's keen for more, so we'll do an overnighter soon.

Nothing like a wind-hold day for introducing the 15 yr old to the back-country: soft, dry snow meant great skiing, and there was enough wind exposure and uphill to make him feel he really earned his turns.

(Rocky Knolls - just outside Falls Creek)

Tech.bindings on Madshus Annums - patterned bases reduced the number of transitions, made the uphill touring less onerous & locking the heels down made the skiing more manageable. Now for overnight spring snow-camping....
