Just thinking out loud - @luvthabumps - could the Village Square camera be pointed a little differently and have it show the Kooroora site at all? I assume it is too far away and perhaps the wrong angle etc???
Or move the Apira lodge cam. But not sure what you would see. Might be too far up the Avenue
How about 1964?
I was going to talk to LTB about this, the camera is fixed to a base mount i made when the new fence went up.
Right now the front of the camera is level with the fence top and when the snow builds up we get a curtain that covers the front of the camera and moving it a little farther out would fix that issue as well as move the view a bit to the left.
To do that I just need to add a short strap to the base mount which would only take an hour to do max.
Moving the cam view a bit left would also get more of Kooroora site in shot.
I need to get up to the hill some time to look at the APIRA cam, we are looking at moving it to another part of the lodge for a better view.
Preferably to the front side where there is street lights so we can get a better night view.
I will likely be going up in Nov when the APIRA work party is on and will get in touch with LTB and see if we can do something about the VS cam on the day.
The clock tower and trees will block a lot of the view from the LTB location. The North East corner of APIRA
would make for the best view.
Trees will block a bit of the view although I could zoom it in over summer.
Has a zoom lens.
Well see how APIRA goes and how they feel about it being there out front.
The trees up on that corner might be an issue too.
Had a look at @luvthabumps cam when I was up a couple weeks ago. No view to be had by pivoting in current spot - you'd have to move it right up to the 'Chalet' end of the balcony to see anything. Even then you wouldn't see much until it went up a level or two, as the view is still obstructed by the clocktower/village trees etc.
It would be far better for locals/the builder to just post a couple of iphone snaps from time to time. I'm sure they will.
Old view to the left (before the new fence)
It has zoom too.
A wireless cam with a solar panel on Buller Central would be neat .
This will be such a game changer for Buller but especially the square area.
But it beggars belief that Kooroora's exterior was allowed to deteriorate to such a poor state for so long.
Better late... Yarda...!
A permanent one even better.
Can remove all the building and dirt they want.
They will never be able to find and excavate the loss of innocence that many a young punter experienced on that site.
Wow that's big progress since I was there a month ago.
I wonder what stage they'll get to before winter sets in. Are they seriously planning on having it completed for this winter? That looks like there's a long way to go.
Yeah that’s the plan. They started work in late September.
Holy shit, ground floor slabs havent even been laid, let alone the suspended slabs and tilts. They better hope for good weather. If they can get it to lock up before the weather sets in that might be doable, but even from lockup it's months of internal work to get buildings like this up to final inspection/occupancy.
They had to dig a big hole first
No kidding they did. It's a mountain of a project, good luck to them. I wonder if there are penalties for not getting it done by Queens Bday weekend? In any case, i'm going to bet a small construction company like Grollo would have more know-how than me.
The " pub" side is well out of the ground but still digging on the buller central side. does anyone know why ? I heard VCAT were involved. But I have heard lots of rumours lately!!
Lel. VCAT. Here we go.
Just get a Chinese builder in. It will be finished next week.
Or maybe Icon builders will be available
Lots of promises made
a bit of sloppy writing, but I get the gist.
... Kooroora is a collection of 21 residences. Five are left in the four storey $35 million Grollo Group project through John Castran.
The site... established in 1953 by brothers Ernest and Aurel Forras in 1953. Their mother and sister came out from Hungry ... Kooroora provided the first post war high-end commercial accommodation on the mountain.
Property mogul Rino Grollo sold his 300 sqm Howqua suite penthouse in the Mount Buller Chalet in 2015 to the Autobarn founder, Garry Dumbrell for $1.7 million.
And some info from those in charge.
and I just sent off a missive.
Who said it had to be wholly finished in a single summer? Car park / nightclub / pub / retail should be good for winter.
The underground carpark and pub will be ready for 2019 winter. They will continue with the upper levels after winter. I believe this was how it was planned to be built
But I lied.
My understanding has always been basement garage/ground floor by winter ‘19.
Yes . Its what i heard also. so another 6 months to find your dignity before its ungracefully taken from you again!!!
Got this reply on 14 January. In response to my enquiry on whether units/apts will be ready this Winter:
These photos were taken on 3 February 2019. A digger spent all day Saturday with a jackhammer on one area of rock and made almost no progress.
Gunna need a bigger digger.
the jackhammer has been going for months!!!
this was taken last week just after a massive storm hit buller
