i did a dad/boy weekend Sat, Sun, Mon just gone. Sat out to Kozzie from Thredbo, return. Sun out to Tate, from Guthega via the Guthega Ck footbridge. Kozzie Chair is open until the 14th Oct. Snow from Thredbo is discontinuous, you will walk at some stage if you go via the ‘usual’ direct route. Parts of Cootapatamba Ck opening near the hut (or is that the Swampy Plains by then). Big cornice chunks have recently fallen and pulled some wall slab with them in a few spots. As always, fun and views marvellous. Boy wrecked after a long trip for a small desk jockey! Sunday we tootled out to Tate from the (very quiet) Guthega day carpark. We headed across the Dam, and the Guthega Ck footbridge. He found the skinning up and across steeper slopes more taxing, and we went about 250m up. Lunch, built a hole and snow walls, one yo-yo lap in fun corn snow then home. Some fun picking a continuous snow route to the bridge but we did (not by the easiest route!). You can still skin from the Tate side of the footbridge up Tate Snow very discontinuous between Bridge and car. We walked 80%. Slopes above still great. A tremendous melt is underway as it is every year around now. Creeks are gushing and sun shining. Sometimes surface snow slipping under the skin when steep. Lovely stuff. Still plenty of wide open slopes in all directions for Spring skiing. MR proper all looking good for another few weeks’ skiing, just changes in accessibility likely. Sunday we fished the Thredbo for an hour or so for naught, then home. s in accessibility likely. Sunday we fished the Thredbo for an hour or so for naught, then home.
