ol union saying.
nah just stirring the pot, but it is incredibly easy to vote as many times as you want & also to not vote at all. SO many ways.
For the last two elections (Federal and State) my name has appeared on the roll twice. Same address. Some AEC stuffup, I think. I have to explain why I didn't vote twice.
nah, just say you did.
That's a new one!
I have to do a lot for my guys - but never customs forms!
Yeah I grab a handful every couple of trips and leave them with her... only departure, not arrival - although I guess she could do that as well.
She's awesome, organises the travel accom, hire cars sets up data packs gives me a little envelope with my flight itin, a completed departure card and a separate full itn. I can leave the office 1hr before an international departure and be on the plane 30-45 min later brilliant
(I have been known to buy her (or mor likely her husband) a bottle of Beam on the way back in as well )
That's why the good ones are worth paying for!
I've never paid for one yet!
Oh you pay in other ways then ;-)
Too true, and forever!
Re the Eurostar you're leaving UK then entering France - you don't show passport in. Paris so you're saving time.
And UK customs wanted to scan my thongs for metal
and Hamilton island security swab for explosives (even if you're only wearing boardies, pluggers and a wife beater)
Canadian govt announced recently they're finalising plans to collect passport data of people leaving the country. It's part of a round of border security measures they agreed to with the Americans in 2012.
Note that there will be no forms to fill out - airlines and ferry services will will forward passport information from their computers; the Americans already check passports at land crossing and wil begin forwarding that data to Canada. Simples! Now why can't Australia do the same, that form just duplicates what the airlines already collect. Senseless and wasteful.
Automated data collection points now installed in Sydney intl
Yeah this time when I left Aus it was so simple and automated. Passport went in an auto reader, matched me to my photo and card went in a box.
Yep can report the same for Brisbane
Used that when I flew out on NYE last year.
Milawa Cheese Factory, Milawa, Silo Bakery Kingston, Canberra, Flour Water Salt Bowral.
Still a fail. Airlines collect that data already at check in, just authorise them to hand that info over to the feds and you're done. How much did those auto reader kiosks cost? I smell bureaucracy at work here, some govt mandarin is protecting his/her little kingdom of shit.
That we are a penile colony.
Draw a penis on the ballot paper
Yeah I reckon the remaining paper is during transition its not 100% machines. Oz bureaucracy does move slow!
Go border force!
Border Force...................That has to be the most crap name ever.
Its a label from the abbot era. Sums up a few things imo
mmm really don't see how the Airlines collecting the info is going to work. At some point you need to check that the person going through immigration is the person booked onto the flight. Without some sort of check like at immigration you could have one person check in and another go through security and get on the flight. Your passport does not get checked as you go through security or board the plane. That happens at immigration.
But airlines DO check passports. Pre flight security does too - in some countries. Canada is saying they can collect data on everyone leaving the the country without any additional process to travelers, why can't Australia do the same thing and save the tax payers some money?
BORDER FORCE will not let others do something so critical to our national security!
Yeah that sure does sound like a badass outfit. Wouldn't wanna mess with them, they're serious dudes. You can tell by the name.
Pre flight security does not check your passport in Aus.
Japan they check your passport as you are bording the plane.
Of the 7 countries i've visited this year, everyone except Australia does boarding checks at the gate, some airlines even check again at the aircraft door.
Go Border Force !!!!!!!!!
You expect the airlines will just hand data that they've spent their time collecting over to the govt, for free?
All it would do is transfer the costs, whatever they are, from one place to another, with profit margin attached.
They're always keen to privatise and subcontract this stuff. I don't buy that as a reason.
Always under the guise of it being "cheaper"
Always ends up costing somebody more.
Ever since the ATO figured out that Joe business man can collect GST for them, all the other gov departments are trying to acheive the same.
I wonder how much they paid channel 7 to use the all mighty "Border Force" as their new moniker??
I just love their tacky caps
The US doesn't even have outbound immigration, don't care if you are leaving just who is coming in!
The US uses data from the airlines.

Simple to legislate the airlines to hand over data they collect. They're already collecting it anyway, they might whine about additional costs but there's little real upcharge except for the data transfer process.
I just want to know why the government need to know my job when I live here? What do they do with this random information?
They like to keep an eye on the number of lion tamers in the country.
I never fill any of that shit out honestly. It's not their business.
I used to write entrepreneur.
Leaving Australia is about to get easier on Saturday. The Departure card will be no more. Wave buhbye to the green form!
Heathrow is a contender for that dubious status.
Unless it has changed a lot recently, being a non-UK or -EU resident there means a very long wait for hundreds of inbound people feeding through one or two control points.
LAX is similar.
Was in LAX on the 16th June, just gone. Its a different airport than it used to be and quite good now.
Hopefully that will change with Brexit, and once again Commonwealth passport holders will go through the fast gates.
