Skied LM today. I was concerned about conditions but after a walk to the plateau from the car park (about 800 m), most trails were skiable, if thin and icy in places. Some wash outs in the gullies. Echo flat was ok and the bottom section of snow gum. The further out one went, the better it got. Good cover out around the triangle and upper Muster (8-10 cm), but my legs started complaining after lunch about their first day on skating skis. Soft ice cream in the afternoon was hard work (on my slower skis) and the cover was melting off, but I had almost forgotten how much fun is skating! No fitness and poor technique were handicaps but still great. If they get a top-up this w/e as predicted, next week should be really good.Bring it on. Will explore Mt. Stirling tomorrow.
