If it snows in late August or early September, you could be in luck. I would suggest you keep an eye on the Lake Mountain cams closer to the date.

By Sept. across Vic. the snow line is at about 1650 M. which rules out Lake Mtn., Baw Baw, obviously Mt. Donna Buang and even Mt.Stirling to a large degree.
It does make for some good snow shoe trips to the Bogong High Plains what with longer days and some spring sunshine here and there.
Spring = Main Range in NSW :)

I could be proven to be wrong about Lake mtn. If it keeps snowing this week then I will go up for a day on Monday or Tuesday next week! .

Looking very likely now. I'm hoping to ski there on the 11th.

Definitely looking promising. In fact, more than promising. I'd say it was a dead cert. :D

Yep, either the 11th or 12th of September 2017 are looking quite tempting :) for a day trip.

With snowfall forecast up to the 9th , it's a fair chance!
