..we haven't been to Buller on a weekend for years and staying in Mansfield.

    Wanted to find out:

Dinner options - arriving late-ish on a Friday - what is a good take away choice and still open late on a Friday? What are recommendations for dinner Sat night?

Travel to/from Buller - I believe the day parking is pretty busy on the weekends - what are options for catching a bus from Mansfield to the village in all our gear? And return. Or is it just simpler to drive up early?

    Thanks !

The travel part is simple...at $68 per head per day on the bus, driving each day is a bit more attractive

    Drive up early!.
We went last Sunday and the queue to the mountain entry ticket booth was 1.7km's long.
That said, once we got on mountain via Horse Hill chair and past the chairs directly fed from Horse Hill, the lift queue's were much smaller than I would have expected.

Seems to only make sense too take the bus if you want to avoid the village taxi fee if you are staying longer than a day.

Staying in Mansfield.. Drive up early and catch the FREE bus from the day carpark to the village or take the Horse Hill chairlift. If you get up there early, you'll get a park very close to the Horse Hill chair.

What time will you roll into Mansfield on the Fri? If it's really quite late, just cut a lap of the main drag and pick what looks best to you. There's a few take away places/pizza/fish n chips etc. Mansfield Hotel may still be doing pizzas.

Either of the pubs will serve you well on the Sat night.
