Why Ziggy, why? I had to hire a pair of these last weekend and they were the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.
Yep, plenty comfy. Very good boot. I wanted more leverage and got some Svartisen on spec. Got a bit more plus a blister in the first hour lol. Will stick with those.
OK, curious. But I suppose they have used different materials to create a more off trail capable boot.
Nice boots , man. A Very similar design to my Fischer BC XC ski boots . Windy Corner XC ski rental this very season are renting out that same XC BC Fischer boot that I ski on .
Hi Ziggy I’m new to this forum And cross country, but looking for gear and Id like to try these - I’m up in falls until this Friday ? I’m thinking to purchase some Fischer otx 68’s with nnn-bc bindings. The boots I’ve rented are too rigid and high up the shin for my liking. Thinking these could work better. I’ll see if I can workout how to pm you my number. Thanks Nicole
https://www.fischersports.com/outback-68-crown/skin-331 I have not skied on these skis but I have a pair of Fischer skinny BC XC skis with aggressive pattern bases and full metal edges. If there is one kind of ski that can be used for most forms of Nordic skiing in most conditions ( aside from skating of course) then this sort of ski would be it. If you get kicker skins by black diamond then the aperture at the front of the OTC 68 ski would not be useful since BD kicker skins use a different design to attach themselves to the planks. If you get NNN BC bindings then do not get automatic versions. They are shite when they ice up. Get the manual ones with the lever.
Thanks for that advice Mister Tee - these skis already have the Rotella manual bindings on them. I’m really enjoying these - out the last few days- they are narrow enough to fit into the tracks, yet can ski off the groomed runs as they are a little wider, and I like the stability.
If you get right into XC skiing and BC XC skiing then you will find that one pair of XC skis will not do everything. I have a pair of skinny tooth pick groomed classic track skis, thin line BC XC metal edged skis, wide Madshus Epochs for true BC touring and a pair of Fischer op shop XC skis for rock hopper days at the start and the end of the season. They all have pattern bases and all have NNN BC manual bindings with the lever . If you fall over and need to take the skis off then the automatic binding is a P.I.T.A. and it fills up with snow and ice in very cold and snowy days so that putting it on and off at lunchtime or creek crossings or getting over fallen trees etc. becomes an ordeal of sorts , what with swearing at it , using your poles to excavate the groove and generally not getting very far with it when your hands are too cold to manipulate things . The wider the metal edged ski is , the heavier and slower it tends to be to ski in , esp. to turn in, which works in some situations but not in others. Anyway enough of my blubbering about Nordic skiing , Those boots look really good !
Well it’s quite possible I will end up with many different sorts - this is the beginning! Looking forward to get the rest of my family hooked too. Cheers
