Can anyone comment on the potential conditions on the Main Range by early next week?
Looking at skiing out from the top of the chair at Threbo to Kosi abd thereabouts with the family early next week (Tuesday or Wednesday). As long as there is no ice and enough snow to ski all the way they should be happy.

Should be alright, Tuesday might be a bit windy, but sunny, Wednesday more cloud, and no freeze.

    What the cragman said.

You might need to do a tiny bit of ski on ski off over garden, or you spot away around it.

Next week, possibly unlikely, but maybe possible with a zig zag route around the gardens. Mostly on the stretch from Merrits Creek thru to Kzoi lookout.

    And again along Etheridge.

I would still plan to ski the route rather than walk.

There is a lot of snow but it was always thin over a lot of the flatter valley areas. So those have burnt off fairly quickly this week.

I'd be surprised if you cannot ski the Sentinal & Blue Lake next week. Might be some walky bits on the way in and out.

This pic was taken 25/9/19 so 3 days ago, Kosi and Ridge are well covered, but all the West faces of the Ransheads (right side of pic) have lost up to 1/2 their snow and the areas that retain their snow have only a thin cover.

Down in the deep of the Swampy Plains River Valley the snow is deep, over a metre, but as you move East of the River towards the Ramsheads it get then very rapidly.

So now it’s “ski on ski off” is it? Last week it was “a spot of gardening” and I ended up A over T LOL

You might be walking on the metal grate walking track for most of the way by next week. Only the last half had snow covering it on Tuesday, but plenty of snow up top. Well worth it.

On 26/9/19 @Telemark Phat did not worry about the ski on ski off thing or the gardening, we just grass skied. Being very careful of course not to dig our edges in to cause any damage the delicate environments we were traversing.

Garden at Spencers Creek Bridge 26/9/19 only just freed of their snow blanket.

Ridge top at Belle Vista 26/9/19 again only just free of snow, but a sure sign the melt is on.

Photos from today, we didn't go much further than the Ramshead Range. It's a wide brown land, at least we know where all the Wagga Wagga soil went during the last dust storm.

29/9/19 so this is telling you it’s walking to Kozi from Coota lookout unless you drop into the Coota valley at Coota Pass.

I do not have the coordinates. However if you are skiing from the top of Ramshead straight down into Boging it is on your right.

I do not have any photos but there are two tall rocks with one another rock across the top

Ultraworld is terrible, I went there once and broke a heel riser on my karakorams. Don't recommend looking for it - it's full of splitboarders.

Clarke, Northcote, Townsend, Lee & Carruthers from Guthrie Ridge.

As above but a different angle to see the Snowy and Club Lake Creek just above the junction / ford crossing. Not a lot of snow bridge action at the junction. Good snow cover from the junction it looks like up to Carruthers and Kunama Bowl Area.

Just after skis on about 700 metres from the Spencers Creek Bridge car park & gate looking back to the end of Paralyser South. Still lanes up Paralyser South. Crossing Spencers needs to be done back downhill of the hair pin (room for a couple of cars to park on the outside of the hair pin) short of Betts Creek. Ask if you really want the coords but you should be able to find the ford in the hair pin in the Creek, follow your nose and you will get wet feet, knees maybe more. SO take care at present with current flows.

Looking to Foxhole from the Trig. Foxhole has cover down to Wright Creek. Not visible in the pic but plenty of garden once you get out into the broad valley of Spencers Creek. Spencers is flowing very strongly and will be awkward to cross even this high up in it's catchment. Throw skis and running jump in notskiboots effort might get you across.

MR conditions pics 6/19/19, notes to come.

    Edit, notes added.

    Not yet.

It was clear of snow at least 1500M past the Spencers Creek gate, we did not go further than that.

I would be surprised if the gate is not open Tuesday.

A lot of folks were walking up the road, hopefully one of them will report in here.

7/10/19, the lower section of the route to Guthega Trig. Skis on at the first survey marker about 100M past the weather station.

7/10/19, top section of Guthega Trig ridge, all looks to have good cover. Sorry about the poor pic, I got distracted by Falls Creek which was pounding. Will try and improve on another day.

7/10/19, you need to go a long way upstream for snow bridges on the Snowy and Club Lake Creek.

7/10/19, the Snowy & Club Creek crossing, a good flow with water over the stones. Some folks crossed while I was rubbernecking about. So all possible despite the flow. Bear in mind the flow normally increases during the day with the water level rising commensurately. So crossing back in the afternoon may not be so easy.

7/10/19, this was meant to be a pic of Mt Clarke & Northcote for snow cover but alas we are denied.

7/10/19, like wise for Carruthers. Of note is the lack of exposed yellow brick road yet.

7/10/19, somewhere up there is Twynam.
