Time to kick this off
System is just moving through SA and starting to affect Victoria.
Plenty cold air behind that front!
Barely beating 12C in Radelaide, even with a N/NNE winds!!
Temps are dropping in Western Vic and the mountains seem to be holding their own.
Sat pic is nice.
Wind is picking up and has a cold vibe.
Winter has arrived much to the delight of some.
Thought it was a bit chilly while collecting firewood this morning. Not that I'm expecting snow at Lofty from this system at all but if the temp drop with the SW swing is good enough I might just head up there for a sit outside in the chill with my thermos.
Mt Gambier is 10 c. Which suggest prefrontal could be snow.
Wait and see what we get when it hits Mt William. Excitements.
Good point and that's a direct northerly wind, not even a westerly tinge yet.
hotham temps on the rise, but timing could be the degree or 2 of difference
always good when the pre-frontal northerly is cold in melbs
I can confirm beanie, long pants and gloves were required for the cycle into Canberra for work.
Looks to be around the border with Portland dropping a couple of degrees in the last few hours. I think we will see Mt William drop soon as it is just getting some moisture now. Temps look better than I expected so bring it on!
Heater under my desk officially turned on for the first time.
Either Fletch cam needs a clean or Hotham is getting a smattering
Blue sky gorgeous day, SFA wind and benefited from a temp inversion this morning. 867m. BMts.
Good idea - I need to staple some sort of fabric hem around the desk so the warmth doesn't come out the back/sides.
Got this pissy little thing taking the chill off today.
Mine is an oil heater the full width of my desk, but my office is an ininsulated warehouse.....brrr....
Back on topic, light rain here, was chilly when I popped out to get lunch
didn't bring brolly today. expected "late rain" to mean it would arrive late... fail.
It's only the opening event - I expect it will get rather wet later this evening.
Its looking pretty dark to the south and west of my place and wind began to get quite gusty but not more rain in the last two hours. There is some interesting looking stuff developing on radar about an hour off.
First bit of light rain just started at Thomastown.
Northerly wind and temp at a cool 13c.
Won't somebody think of the feathers!!!!!
Just started in East Melbourne. **** it!
"pissy little thing". Prob breaches OHS.
Darkening but relatively calm in Chelsea.
Temps have dropped a couple of degrees at Perisher and Thredbo in the last hour. Top of Thredbo in the negatives now.
0.1 Deg and 0.8mm of Precip at Hotham. I think I se snow falling on the cams!
Been steady light rain in Mt Waverley for about 40 minutes. Cold outside too. I picked a great day to forget my umbrella!
I observe lovely weather that has major winterstoke factor attached.
those snow cams are saying "wet "......in NE and Buller/Baw Baw and Lake Mt so far....
with only a tiny bit lying on ground.....
Toby from Koflers tells me it's snowing,
This is Lasagna weather.
Thredbo Top gone negative -0.9 . Yewh.
Pretty wet down Ocean Grove this arvo for wander on the beach, heavy down-pours all the way to foot of Dandenongs. Buddy in Adelaide said it was super chilly and wet today, winter is arriving.
Charts look real nice IMO, agree with all here, unstable, embedded, sheer and complex little cutoff with cold pool and ok moisture. Bring on ground cooling event #1.... All seasons start with a first sprinkle, lets hope the guns can blast and get a base happening early next week when the high ridges in.
Go Olympic year season, go!
Winter shades of grey...
Kinda wet and gloomy, just how we like it
looks to me like a bit has already settled at hotham
not yet at DP
was chilly on top of Mt Dandenong a few hours back. Lovely
Passive cellar temp has dropped considerably in last few days
Every year this coincides with the first decent snow, usually a week or so before
Hope this year reinforces the trend!
Miserable outside here in Melbourne.
I no shit had lasagne for dinner.
By miserable we mean beautiful.
Cams are dark, TBo is in the negatives, I'm just here *waiting hopefully* for some pics of the white stuff from those of in the thick of it..
Sydney eastern subs, cool, smokey air, but stars still visible.
Now snowing @ DP
Looks like it is snowing at Perisher
Have a build going up there atm and today was a ripper reminder of how it feels to have winter round the corner
Pics or it didn't happen
Going to be great to watch over the next few days. Flying to Melbourne in the morning so expecting to feel the cold. Radar looks grand! More pics people.
